Gabrianne Reviews

We had a lovely stay at Gabrianne. The house was warm and well equipped, the beds were comfortable and the Conservatory was a lovely place to sit and relax with great views across the countryside. We appreciated the large american style fridge and separate split level table top freezer. The children enjoyed running about in the secluded garden. The house was well situated for access to the local Hive beach and two pubs. Other beaches were not far away.
Lesley
The property was lovely and in a lovely village loved the conservatory having my morning cup of tea looking at the cows in the field. Lots of walks with dog and easy walks to the beach and having lunch at the Hive. Walking distance to a couple of pubs. Further afield plenty of places to visit.
This house is a delight, light and airy. All you need from a holiday home and more.
We had a great time. There were 5 adults, a 2 year old and dog. There was everything we needed within either a short walk or short drive. The only issue was with one of the single beds, apart from that everything else was good. The main gripe and only reason for the 4 stars is that we tried to get hold of dream cottages, who were are contact point for any issues, and couldn't get hold of them. They never responded to our email or voice message. We were able to however get hold of Sykes Cottages and they resolved the issue.
Beautiful house in quiet close with enclosed garden perfect for our dog ! Proper home from home great facilities with all you could need to self cater. Burton Bradstock is beautiful with 2 very good pubs and Hive Beach is dog friendly and lovely sea to swim in. We will definitely be back !
Excellent property for a family gathering. very well equipped, good secure garden for dogs and children, well presented and immaculately clean no evidence of issues previously reported
Natalie
Lovely house, very clean. Good showers. Lots of space. Only downside was that guests are not permitted to use the log fire and it would have been nice to cosy up around that. We enjoyed our stay in the house and this village very much.
Whilst we all had an enjoyable stay at the property which catered for all of our adult family needs. However I would reiterate the complaint posted online by a previous user in August 2024 the property was not totally cleaned and the shower areas were grubby and dirty with evidence of black mould in the first floor shower area. Also i noted there was dust and dirtgrime adjacent washing machine on skirting and floor, in the main bedroom there was thick dust behind bedside cabinets which became evident whilst accessing the plug sockets. I raised the issue of cleanliness as posted by previous user a week prior to our visit and was assured this had been addressed and that special attention would be made prior to our visit to ensure it had been resolved. Clearly you have a problem with cleaning and management of your properties as this is the second time I have had occasion to complain of cleanliness, the first being when we visited Weymouth two years ago. I am unsure about future holiday bookings with Sykes or your associated companies.
We have reported several times so it's clear you do not read feedback. House is shabby, was not clean and that was our first task to clean thoroughly especially ensuite which was full of mould. This was essential due to one member having leukaemia so cleanliness important. House itself would be lovely but it is uncared for. Neighbours lovely too. We won't return. No midweek linen nor towels despite arranging earlier with your company so we had to wash towels etc. Unsatisfactory experience.
We had 4 adults and 4 kids and it was plenty of room. The beach was 4 minutes drive and it was a lovely beach, went there a lot including the evenings. The beach is national trust so if you are a member you park for free otherwise its 10 for the day. The property was in a quite close and a couple of minutes walk to the village
The house was well situated for shop, pubs and beach. Accommodation was extremely good and offered everything you would need for a happy and comfortable holiday. The children were well catered for with books and games and even garden games and beach toys. Highly recommend.
Loretta
The location was great but the property was rather shabby old and tired. It was quite disappointing. The kitchen was not very well equipped no kitchen utensils and no cork screw. The baking trays in the drawer were a disgrace. Very expensive for poor quality.
Christine
Great house and ideally located. If I was being picky I would say you need to supply a tin opener, bottle opener, wooden spoon and fish slice essentials when cooking ! Other than stresses on the first day unable to open food we had bought we had a great time. Having 3 showers in such a big house was a godsend and stopped any squabbles. Car parking was adequate, the beds were comfy. 2 fantastic pubs in walking distance and west bay a 15 minute walk away. Would revisit and highly recommend
Maureen
Gabrianne is a comfortable, very well equipped house in an excellent location. It has a good garden, which made managing the dog very easy. We had good walks directly from the house and Burton Bradstock is a charming village.
Judith
The house is spacious, very well equipped and comfortable. The only negatives were the size of the freezer check this out before doing your first shop, and the shower in the main bedroom. If you use the lower shower head make sure you take it off the holder otherwise the water goes under the shower cubicle and floods the area under the wash basin. Other than that the house is everything you could want for a lovely holiday. We visited Nothe Fort, Portland Castle, the Tropical Gardens at Abbotsbury, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, West Bay and Hive Beach. The cafe at Hive Beach is a little pricey but well worth the visit. All in all we had a great holiday and we would recommend this holiday home which could cater for two families of four or four to six adults.
Lesley
Property was amazing and lovely area , shame about the weather
Had an amazing stay at Gabrianne and wanted for nothing. An amazing house with absolutely everything in it for a comfortable stay. Very clean and tidy property with a beautiful view into the adjacent field. Particularly liked the secure garden for our dog Luka.he spent so much time in there lazing on the lawn!
Well equipped. The only aspect we would raise is seating in the living room. We had 4 adults and a child. It is short of onetwo comfortable seats. Aside from the big single seats, the others are not particularly comfortable.
Lovely, comfortable, welcoming house in a pretty village, walkable distance to the beach. There were plenty of kitchen and dining supplies for a large number of guests, although perhaps another large lidded pan would be a good idea we brought one of our own but it wouldn't work with the induction hob. We especially enjoyed the garden, and the thoughtful touches like the books, toys, and games for the children. Thank you.
Very nice property in a great location. The house has everything you could need while away on holiday we couldnt have asked for more.
Louise
Great property in a great location on a quiet street as the main rd is quite busy. The garden was our highlight our dog loved it. The only request would be more hangers as if we were using each room there was no where near enough. I would also suggest more Tupperware boxes as these are good if you want to take snacks to the beach.
Michael
The property is in a great location. However. On arrival there are a raft of minor issues it was generally quite dirty and dusty and the furniture was in need of some TLC. The sofa was so worn out it had humped in the middle, the tiles in one bathroom were cracked, the en suite was mouldy in the shower and the shower itself was stuck on very hot to the point where it could quite easily burn if you werent expecting it. To top it all off, the TV didnt work on arrival and a replacement was not offered until the day before leaving. I dont think the property was particularly good value for money despite its good location and is in dire need of an update.
Judith
This is a fully furnished family home with lots of china, cutlery, glasses etc for family meals. There is a very large fridge and two small freezers. The lounge, dining room and conservatory are spacious and allowed quiet or noisy spaces for 8 guests to do their own thing when it rained. The garden was great for grandchildren and dog to play, while to the adults sat in comfort at the garden table enjoying the view of the field behind the house. Burton Bradstock is a beautiful village and we could walk to the beach or a pub.
Tracey
A basic welcome pack would be helpful especially when you have a large group, Small bottle of milk, some butter etc. More than one key would also help. We went as 2 families and had to keep locking the key away. House was clean and tidy and suited us all. Thank you.
Granville
Excellent base for visiting Dorset. Bridport close by for essentials, 2 excellent pubs within a few minutes walk. Quiet and comfortable for 6 adults. Fully enclosed garden for our dog who was also very happy. We walked to the local beach in 10 minutes but West Bay, Lyme Regis, Weymouth also within very easy driving distance. All positive.
Andrew
Gabrianne is a pleasant holiday let which we found to be spacious, clean and well equipped. Pretty much your standard holiday let wed say. Its well located for exploring the area and has a couple of decent pubs a short walk away. We only used the two double bedrooms one of which was of was of adequate size but the smaller one was a tighter squeeze. The beds were very comfortable. The twin beds and bunk beds were not used so cant comment on them. We did note though that two of the rooms lacked adequate facilities for hanging clothes which would be a helpful improvement. The kitchen was fitted with modern units and appliances with plenty storage space for groceries. There was lots of cutlery, crockery and ovenware although one or two oven trays could do with replacing as they were a bit tatty. A huge fridge and a separate small freezer but perfectly adequate for most holiday needs we thought. The conservatory is a pleasant place and which we used in the main. Had the weather been cooler then the lounge would also have been a comfortable space. The dining room open plan to the lounge with a good sized table was also up to the job. There was plenty of information available about the local area and a good library of maps which we made use of. Theres also enough entertainment technology to suit most needs. The rear garden is a good size and private with open fields beyond. However, given Dorset is one of the prettiest parts of the country, it does lack some real TLC. Its pretty much just a clover lawn with a few bedraggled plants hither and thither. With just a little more care to make it a more attractive area it could be a huge asset to the property! It probably suits families with children or dog owners as it wouldnt suffer too much damage though so maybe thats the reason? We had a problem with the cold water supply to the bathrooms and previous occupiers had also commented on this. The water was literally just dripping out of the upstairs taps when we arrived. Dream Cottages arranged for a plumber to attend, which he did, but in the meantime we discovered the cold water feed from the cold tank in the loft had been turned off. When turned on the cold water flow was sufficient and perfectly acceptable but it is not direct from the mains as it is in the kitchen and also not potable only the kitchen is potable. Wed suggest this should be pointed out in the information file for the house. Overall, a good holiday let. Thank you.
Very clean and well equipped.
Russell
Very nice property with enough bedrooms and bathrooms which also has a double sofa bed if you need it. In a good location not far from the beach for fossils if you like those. Close enough to Bridport especially if you need a decent electric vehicle rapid charger. Easy parking for 2 cars and a nice conservatory with a fenced off back garden. Would recommend changing the log burner for an electric one so that guests can use it, would have liked a bigger freezer as a bit restricted for 7 people and could do with another sofa in the lounge as we had to use a chair from the conservatory. But overall we had a very nice break.
Gabrianne is a lovely house with plenty of space for a family holiday. The kitchen was very well equipped and the house was lovely and warm. Hive beach and West Bay are within a few minutes drive and Weymouth with Sealife centre and Sand World are an easy drive away. We had a lovely break with the family.
Michael
Think you should have put down in info, about the shared parking, prior to booking.
Alison
Lovely house in quiet village. Perfect location for exploring the area. Hive Beach Cafe and Anchor Inn superb. Not,
Robert
Gabrianne was a fabulous house and very well equipped. We had a lovely week with the family plus the dog. As far as we were concerned, it had everything needed for a first class family holiday. Highly recommended it. Lots to see and do in the area.
Natalie
The location of the house is ideal for visiting to Dorset coastline and the village on Burton Bradstock is idyllic. Sadly the house was not suitable for two families and it was very disappointing to find on arrival the bins were full up, the grass had not been cut and the house could have done with a good dusting and hoover of cobwebs. There was also no toaster in the kitchen on arrival. After phoning Sykes one was delivered the next day. The property is advertised to have a tumble dryer which it does not have. I would also recommend larger chest of drawers are added to the bedrooms and a wardrobe to the main bedroom.
A lovely house with clean towels and bedding set in a brilliant location. I have sent a separate email as no knives or spatulars or spoons. We only cooked twice. There is no toaster , the doorbell didnt work and the hoover did not work properly. There is also no wardrobe in the main bedroom. Lovely view at the back and a lovely lady made us welcome with a list of things to do. I would suggest you take off the wood fire as you arent allowed to use it and would benefit from a list of games etc , hairdryer etc. I brought lots of things down which were already there. Overall a lovely place to stay but i feel very pricy due to covid.
Alexandra
Just a couple of notes of feedback we arrived with a tub of ice cream for the children and a bag of ice for drinks, all of which had to be wasted because there wasnt a freezer, or even a freezer compartment in the fridge. It might be worth addressing that, or at least making it very clear in the notes that there is no freezer compartment, as youd always expect one. A smaller point of feedback is that there are no mirrors and not many plug points in the bedrooms. Making it much clearer that the log burner is not for guest use might be useful too, as people booking in colder weather might specifically choose the property because it had one we do that in colder months. Otherwise the property was great super clean, well equipped, a nice layout, a fab enclosed garden for children and pets, and we were blown away by the location you should make more mention of that on the particulars as being walking distance to a good beach, places to eat, a lovely gastropub, walks fields, a park, a river for the children etc... we couldnt have asked for more!
