Lightkeepers Cottage Reviews

Loved it so much weve already booked it again for next year.
Kathleen
Lightkeepers cottage was immaculate. Very comfy, and everything you need was there. The only thing I found, and as I had younger family with me, it was not a problem, but as I was celebrating my 80th birthday, I found all the lovely New electric cookers etc beyond me. We all enjoyed the walk along the river to the seafront, a short steep hill to walk back to the cottage but I managed it few times. We couldn't have chosen a better place.
Jacqueline
We have stayed in light keepers many times however not in the colder months. The heating at nights we were unable to set the heating to 19 as it automatically set itself to 17! We were so cold we kept waking up. The duvets were too thin and the cold air penetrated them. There were no spares or blankets. The radiator in the back bedroom was broken and it could not be turned down. This sounds contradictory but we didnt contact Sykes straight away because one of our children had croup and couldnt have the room warm. Midweek we contacted Sykes and the maintenance chap came very promptly. He set the heating to a more comfortable setting and managed to put the broken heater on medium. He agreed the radiator in the front bedroom was not adequate size for that room. Although the heating made it slightly more comfortable the duvets were still not warm enough. Winter duvets needed. Lack of saucepans made cooking a chore and the non stick shedded black bits in our food!!! However we still love the property and its excellent location and parking. We will return.
We were a group of two families of 4 staying at this property. The pictures and description honestly dont do the listing justice. It was perfect. Great size, comfortable for us all. Very handy having en suites and a main bathroom. All rooms had a smart TV so handy for children all wanting to watch different things. Well equipped kitchen. Spacious. Clean. Lovely walk down to Lyme Regis which took around 10 minutes, though a bit hilly. Highly recommend and we will definitely look at staying again.
It was perfect for three couples, who have been friends for a long time, to meet and catch up. Lovely large, very wellequipped kitchen, except no teapot! Easy walking distance to beach, with one short, sharp slope for the last 50 or so metres back to the house. One of our friends is quite unfit and she was able to do it.
Everything within the property was great. The outdoor furniture chairs are well past 'there best before date'. Rusty and or broken, not really useable.
Perfect accommodation for large family group. Close to river walk and quick walk to lovely choice of beaches and restaurants. Clean and modern interior with comfortable beds and showers.
Our stay at Lightkeepers Cottage was excellent. We had everything we needed to make our holiday comfortable and really enjoyable. A welcome pack full of goodies was a nice touch and we especially appreciated the modern kitchen and the choice of seating areas provided. We were so impressed with both the house and Lyme itself that we added an extra day to our stay. It is worth noting that there is a very steep bit of path as you walk from the house to the town via the river. After that the walk down is very pleasant and Lyme is full of gorgeous little houses and shops. We would recommend the Town Mill area, the gardens and the Cob.

Great for family stay, nice and clean and well appointed. Good position for walking into the town and to the beach, very relaxing stay. Lyme Regis is certainly somewhere we would return to.
Second stay at this lovely house. Lovely welcome pack. Just perfect! Cleaner was very accommodating and helpful and did a great job. Many thanks
Michael
Really nice could do with another chair in lounge would happily stay again thank you
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lightkeepers Cottage. From the moment we entered the property we were impressed by the tasteful decor and furnishings and it had been cleaned to a high standard, making it all very welcoming. We especially liked the large kitchen dining area which also included some comfy seats for relaxation. The kitchen was well equipped, we even found the hidden sliding cutlery drawer at the top of the middle cupboard on the island. It was a multigenerational holiday and we were all pleased with the high standard of the two ensuites and family bathroom and comfortable beds. There is a cosy snug at the front of the house perfect for quiet reading. Outside the side gate was difficult to open and close to get to the key safe. Maybe the maintenance team could adjust this before the booking season gets really busy. The large garden was an excellent space for the children to play. It is only a short walk along the river into Lyme Regis and to the beach, perfect for a three generation family holiday. We highly recommend this holiday home.
Lovely comfortable house in a great position only 10 minutes quiet walk from the seaside. Level of cleanliness was excellent. House was very well equipped although we had difficulty finding the cutlery drawer but agent was very helpful when I phoned. We were surprised in a family friendly house that there was no high chair, but not a problem as we took our own. Beds were very comfortable with nice linen and there was plenty of hot water for showers. Some shower gel would have been useful, especially as there was washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc. It was great to have a secluded secure garden for the children. Ideal for a multi generational family like ours! We would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage, so comfy and welcoming. Lots to do in local area. Will return
We had a lovely stay and the property was clean, comfy and spacious. No negatives in the cottage itself but the radiator in the back ensuite bedroom wouldn't work which made that room cold at night. We also had trouble with the remote on the extractor hood which was a little temperamental. I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family and hopefully we will return again soon.
Tracey
We traveled as 4 women friends of a certain age. Great to each have a bedroom. Perfectly located for a nice stroll into town and the seafront. Plenty to do in the town. We ate at Lilac which was excellent. Exceptionally clean, comfortable and well equipped.
A Beautiful home with the perfect location.
Lovely clean, modern place for a family holiday.
Fantastic house, this was our second stay at Lightkeepers House as we loved it so much the first time. Great location, gorgeous house and very comfortable. There was a problem with the radiator in one of the double bedrooms as the valve had broken and the radiator wouldnt work. We called the helpline and a guy arrived really promptly to fix but it wasnt fixable until change over day. The extractor fans in bathrooms didnt seem to work either. Our only ask is that there are more lounge seats in the open plan area, as a family we all wanted to sit together but were unable to as only really 34 people and we were a family of 5 and the house sleeps 8. We didnt want to split ourselves between the two lounges and also couldnt get normal TV in the other lounge. We also didnt want to sit on the dining room chairs in the evenings as just wanted to chill out together on a sofa armchair. Thats our only suggested improvement, the house is perfect otherwise , beautifully comfortable beds, amazing showers and bath, A very high spec finish and also a lovely welcome pack. Thank you
1000 check out is quite early when we are expected to empty bins, stop beds and leave the place clean. Obviously leaving the place in an appropriate state is expected as is emptying bins.
Dorothy
The cottage is spacious and comfortable and the ensuite bathrooms help to make it ideal for a multigenerational family. The kitchen is very well equipped and several games are provided for wet weather entertainment. The short walk to the beach along the river is a bonus as one doesnt need to be concerned about driving or parking. One concern is the absence of recycling facilities. There is a box for glass but no separate bin for plastic, cans or paper. This should be addressed urgently. Also it would help if a few bin liners were provided, in addition to the ones already in the bins.
Virginia
Nice cottage, clean and comfortabl inside. .However, severely let down by the unkempt garden which we spent 2 hours removing the unsightly weeds from the rear garden area. Also difficult to park 2 larger vehicles on the front drive. But most off putting were the bins right outside the front door which we discovered were full of the previous occupants unbagged rubbish which stank and the bin was full of maggots! DISGUSTING.
Jacqueline
We had a fantastic holiday at light keepers . Perfect size for 6 adults an 4 year old and twin babies. The only thing I would suggest is to let people know the Astro turf gets extremely hot in the sun and can burn childrens feet. So they need suitable footwear. Other than that we had a perfect holiday at the property. We looked after the home as if it were our own and left it in the condition as we found it. Many thanks.
Great house and a good holiday. A set of pans designed for the induction hob would be a great improvement along with cooking utensils that don't wreck nonstick pans, on already good house. Lack of recycling facilities for anything but glass. The rest of the street had wheelie bins for this.
Michael
Really nice house, well equipped and good quality fittings. Easy walk to beach
Fabulous property. Modern, clean, quality goods. Great location. Nothing not to like. 100 would recommend and stay again. Lovely welcome pack as well !
Shirley
Very Warm, clean and comfortable, enjoyed our stay very much well kitted out for an enjoyable holiday, if I had any comment it would be for a shelf or tray in shower.
Catherine
Great place to stay for multi generational group or a group of friends Shame there was no towel for downstairs bathroom and no soap dish or shelf in the showers.
Leanne
We went on holiday with our family of 4 plus my mum, dad & sister. Amazing home we stayed in, it was beautiful & spacious. So clean, looked after & just stunning. We had amazing days out & wonderful evenings in all being together playing dominoes & uno. Lots of lovely memories.
Stephen
Excellent property with great facilities. The property was clean, or appeared to be so until we after a couple of days decided to clean the floor in the open plan area. We then found that even the areas we had not used were dirty. It would appear that floor had not been washed prior to our arrival.
Lovely property in good spot, easy if occasionally uphill, short walk to beach via river path at end of road. Everything we needed at property Very quick response to minor problem with toilet seat
Verity
We really enjoyed our stay at light keepers cottage, the house is in a perfect location to enjoy Lyme Regis without having to use the car! Its very well decorated and very comfortable! Weve had a great week!
Lesley
A super holiday home with everything we could want. A lovely, spacious, well presented house with quality fixtures and fittings, a short walk downhill to the sea front.
Andrew
We had a lovely week at the light keepers cottage with our two young children. The cottage was amazing and a fantastic base from which to explore Lyme Regis. I would not hesitate to book again in the future. Thank you.
