Old Post Office Reviews

Adrian
I would highly recommend this property. Having stayed there recently it was a way to have a family gathering for 8 of us. The property provided ample space for us all. There are great spaces for dining, relaxing and sleeping. The kitchendinner is great for family gatherings and is well equipped with plenty of cutlery, pots and pans and crockery and other kitchen equipment. The large kitchen table was not only good for dining but was also great for playing family board games. Another nice touch is the kitchen island which we found breakfast a lovely social affair. The property is well represented on the website and the pictures give a true insight of what to expect. We found everything to be spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. There is plenty of off road parking space which we required with 3 cars. The Hot Tub was a great hit with the younger members of the family. Thank you to the owners for providing such a lovely warm and cosy house. Well done!
The Old Post Office is one of the best luxury holiday homes weve stayed in. Weve done a lot of UK staycations with our kids since Covid, and this one really stands out. The house is beautiful inside and out, with a lovely rural setting and outlook, and lots of thoughtful little touches throughout. It strikes that rare balance of feeling warm and homely without ever feeling like youre staying in someone elses home. Everything was spotless, the amenities were great, and the welcome pack was excellent always a differentiator. The hot tub was also a big hit especially with the kids. Wed wanted to stay for a while and it absolutely lived up to expectations. Well definitely be back.
The Old Post Office in Glanvilles Wootton is delightful. We had a lovely week in this property which is wellpositioned, quiet, comfortable, warm, immaculate and extremely well equipped. From the moment we walked in we felt at home. It was great accommodation for our family, including our dogs. We look forward to our next visit, in September!
Rebecca
Absolutely beautiful house the hot tub and bath is a lovely touch lots of space ... Absolutely beautiful house the hot tub and bath is a lovely touch lots of space to sit and relax would definitely visit again love the welcome basket that was left for us that was a lovely touch
We had a wonderful Christmas at the Old Post Office. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our Christmas meal and plenty of room to serve it all. From cozy nights in front of the fire, crisp winter afternoons in the hot tub, to luxurious soaks in the huge copper bath tub, it is a very relaxing place to stay. Highly recommended!
Trevor
This is the second time we have stayed here for the New Year and the property did not disappoint with its character, luxury feel and quality. There is more than enough space and facilities for our party which consisted of six adults, one 3yr old and a 10 month old baby. Highly recommended.
Stephen
It was so nice to spend the long weekend at The Old Post Office. The facilities are outstanding and everything is very high quality. Although the weather wasnt the best we were able to relax and enjoy the log fire while enjoying several movies together. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning sometime soon.
Absolutely amazing property that is exactly as described! It was perfect for our gathering of 4 couples with the comfortable lounge and the social kitchendining area. So well equipped we went short of nothing. Spotlessly clean and decor was beautiful!
A fantastic house to stay in, lovely finishing details through out and everything had been thought of to make it a comfortable stay.
We have very much enjoyed our vacation at The Old Post Office. Very comfortable and spacious for our family stay. Location was great for all the location visits we planned and made. Emma has proved to be a good host and was very responsive to a couple of minor issues that did not anyway distract from the enjoyment of our stay.
The Old Post Office has been transformed into a fantastic holiday let! Our party of six had a brilliant reunionget together and we all were of the same opinion the design, facilities and references to its history have been beautifully incorporated. Kerry and Emma are the most welcoming and helpful of hosts and the property is within easy reach of Sherborne, Stourhead NT, West Bay, Lyme Regis, LulworthDurdle Door, etc The hot tub is an added bonus and we would recommend the Old Post Office to anyone wanting to visit this beautiful part of Dorset.
Penelope
We had a lovely stay and the house was exactly what we wanted The copper bath has a real wow factor but perhaps not terribly practical! Not a complaint just observation. Excellent welcome pack thank you.
We have just returned from our stay at The Old Post Office. It was a long weekend away that we try and make every year with our grown up children, our granddaughter and my elderly father Great Grandad. Some may find the remote location and absolute peace and quiet a bit off putting but for us with walks from the doorstep for our Lab, Finn it was the perfect and remember it is only 15 mins from the beautiful towns of Sherborne and Dorchester. We did take a trip to Weymouth for our granddaughter to go to Sea Life. 40mins away. But back to the property, as soon as you walk through the door you can tell the house has been set out with a lot of thought and care and the detail in its finish is excellent. The property has been configured to maximize the space. There were eight of us over four generations and we never felt we were on top of each other. The kitchen is fantastic and a great social area with a large island with comfy bar stools and very spacious table that seated all of us comfortably. My son and I love to cook and whilst we ate out one night at the Gaggle of Geese, we ate in the other four nights. We always bring some cooks essentials as some properties do not have some equipment and the knives are often well used and blunt. Not here, there is so much equipment to cook with just like home and the knives were all sharp, we never wanted for anything. There is ample storage for all of ones own shopping and the superb range cooker cooked the Sunday roast spot on. The patio doors from the kitchendiner lead out to a small but well kept garden which is pretty much south facing and with the autumn sun Great Grandad enjoyed nodding off either in the recliners or outdoor chairs. We did not use the hot tub, although it was already set up. The lounge was cozy and snug and had a nice little area for our granddaughter to play in without us having to step over her toys and puzzles. Upstairs the four double bedrooms are very generous with ample storage for all of ones clothes and toiletries in bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable which makes sleeping a dream with no light pollution or noise. The bathrooms are immaculately clean as is the whole of the house. Towels are provided and are all fluffy and unmarked. Even if you do have to get up in the night, the mirror have dimmed light on a touch sensor and on the landing and the hall remote sensor lights come on as it really is that dark. The night skies are amazing and are a star gazers paradise. We could go on writing how good this property is but it really is very special creating a home from home feel. Emma was on hand to answer any questions but this property is a credit to both Emma and Kerry, This review could have been summed in just two words. Absolutely Fantastic. Thank you both for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage.

The Old Post Office is as amazing as its pictures on Sykes website, and has many decorations referencing its history. It truly has everything and more, you need and expect from a holiday home. There are hot and cold outside taps, a real bonus for muddy dogs and boots. There are helpful labels all through the property, with regard to lights and hot water taps. There are night lights that help you see at night whilst you get used to your surroundings. I definitely recommend this perfectly situated home.
We have stayed at many holiday cottages over the years and this is up there with the best. If you are looking for a very well equipped, cosy cottage in beautiful countryside book this cottage.
Debbie
What a beautiful cottage, fully equipped, fabulously finished, a credit to the owners, couldn't have wished for a nicer stay, would definitely recommend and revisit. . Caters for all needs, great quiet location, within suitable distance to visit the coast. 10 out of 10.
Great! Heres a version tailored for Sykes Holiday Cottages friendly, informative, and aligned with the tone typically found in Sykes reviews We had a lovely stay at The Old Post Office. The house is beautifulspotlessly clean, tidy, and clearly well looked after. It had everything we needed and was really well equipped for a comfortable stay. The location was ideal, with a couple of National Trust sites nearby that we enjoyed visiting, as well as scenic drives along the coast. Local amenities were within easy reach, with a Sainsburys around 1015 minutes away. The neighbours we met were very friendly and even suggested a few local walks, which were perfect for both the children and our dog. All in all, a relaxing and enjoyable break in a charming property. We would definitely recommend it and would love to return in the future.
Superb accommodation spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. Real bonus having three separate showers and a bathroom. The owners welcome pack was very good including treats for the dog. The house and garden had all we needed and the owners had thought of everything to make the stay like home from home.
What an amazing cottage! Beautifully styled with everything we needed for a fantastic stay. From the moment we arrived, we were wowed by the Old Post Office. The cottage is beautifully decorated and the attention to detail and all the thoughtful touches meant we had a really relaxing and comfortable stay. The hot tub was a great bonus, we loved it. Emma, the owner sent a lovely text on our arrival and departure and the Welcome Hamper was the best we have ever received!! Thank you so much. If you are planning a stay in this area I cant recommend the Old Post Office enough.
We were delighted with our stay at The Old Post Office, everything from the generous welcome hamper on arrival, to the flexibility and responsiveness of the owners, ensured we had a relaxing, trouble free and comfortable stay. The house had all we needed and had been led to expect, it was well equipped, very clean and recently decorated. Everything worked and with the perfect May weather we got to use the barbecue, outdoor seating area and hot tub after our walking trips. Highly recommended!

This a wonderfully appealing cottage beautifully presented in a lovely village. The owners were so lovely with their communication on arrival and lovely welcome pack. Perfect location to have access to Dorset and Somerset sights. We highly recommend this property.
Christopher
Possibly the best holiday house Ive stayed in. Set on a quiet country lane with plenty of offroad parking, house is spacious, clean and fitted out. The owners seem to have anticipated every need, from kitchen equipment to spare towels and even face flannels. The kitchen dining area is spacious with plenty of storage and a large fridge. The living room is very comfortable. The house is fitted out with TVs in every room and even an area when kids could have their own TV.The four bedrooms were spacious with very comfy beds. I dont normally write a lot of feedback but this house is the exception that deserves positive comment. An excellent place to stay.
Amazing, So Clean, Wow all words that we used within minutes of being through the front door! This place is wonderful and the owners have thought of everything to make your stay as confortable as it can be. The house is well equipped with high end appliances meaning you want for nothing. Location is great for walking and exploring and a pub is within walking distance across fields whhich gets my vote! We will definately be back! Thank you.
Melanie
We are four friends that have had a weekend away every year for the last 20 years. This is by far the best cottage we have stayed in, it is so well equipped, decorated beautifully and so comfortable. The communication from the owner was great. We had an amazingly relaxing weekend despite the best efforts of a storm. We would highly recommend this property.

What a fabulous house with quality throughout. The owners are very helpful and left us an amazing welcome hamper. As previously stated, everything is of a high quality from the interior decoration, furniture, etc, right through to kitchen utensils, towels etc. Relaxing in the Hot tub was a refreshing welcome after a day out walking in the cold weather. The house layout could not be more suited to our needs with 6 adults and a 2 year old infant. Would highly recommend.
Charlotte
Perfection. The Old Post Office was everything we wanted and more. We had the most perfect Christmas stay with the house beautifully decorated. The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen had everything we needed. It was a home away from home and we will definitely be booking to come back. Thank you for our stay, it was perfect.

Wow what a fabulous holiday home and one of the best we have ever stayed in. From the moment you enter the Old Post Office, you quickly become aware of its beautiful decor, luxurious furnishings & spotless cleanliness. With a superb 'welcome' hamper of goodies & fresh flowers, Kerry & Emma have thought of everything you may need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The location is truly rural and so quiet yet ideally situated to visit the many attractions in beautiful Dorset.
We were absolutely delighted when we arrived at the Old Post Office. It is a beautiful cottage both inside and out. The attention to detail from the owners was excellent, even down to a welcome pack for not only us, but the dog as well, and flowers and Halloween decorations. We had everything we needed and more for a very comfortable stay. Loved the outdoor space and hot tub and the provision of lots of towels. A basket of goodies and flowers greeted us on our arrival which was a lovely surprise, together with a note from the owners. We certainly hope to return..

This is the best holiday house we have ever been to, it was absolutely wonderful. The location is peaceful and calming, the garden is perfect and private and the house is just beautiful. The thoughtfulness and little details such as the little labels around the house, the extra hot tub towels, the clear instructions for everything. The owners really have made this an incredible place to stay. Thank you Kerry and Emma for the best UK holiday weve ever had. You have the best taste and have created a very special experience.
Such a lovely cottage. We enjoyed a very nice week here in Dorset. The facilities at the cottage were excellent. Everything had been thought through and communication for into such as local fish and chips for the Friday night was brilliant. We couldnt find the path to the pub but this was probably our fault as we got lost. Lots of Local places to visit. Would recommend.
The property is stunning. It has been thoughtfully set up to give comfort to everyone adults , babies and dogs.
Melanie

We were two couples and a dog staying for a week at the beginning of June 2024. The Old Post Office was immaculate a wonderful place to stay for the week and the property has been exceedingly well thought out for the convenience of a short stay. Loads of thoughtful touches around the house which were really impressive. Also, its obvious that the owners are dog owners and loads of small dog friendly touches as well. We had a minor niggle early in the stay, but I must say that the owners, Kerry and Emma, were responsive, attentive and resolved the issue promptly. Its clear to us that Kerry and Emma are rightly proud of their property and the experience they provide, and serious about making sure their guests have a wonderful time. We did have a wonderful time and can highly recommend. Thank you Kerry, Emma and Sykes Cottages. In the words of the renowned poet Arnie.. Ill be back!
