The Gully Reviews

Lovely accomodation in a brilliant location, venue was very clean and the jacuzzi and games room were added bonuses. Warm and cosy inside and very generous with the teascoffeesmilk etc left for us to use. Also ideal for our dog who we brought along with us at last minute with no fuss as there was plenty of green space and walks to go out on.
Had a wonderful time at the Gully over Christmas. The house is well equipped with everything you could need. We shall be booking again for when we are next in the UK visiting family!
This was our 2nd visit to the Gully and it never disappoints. The property is stunningly presented and in a quiet location so you can enjoy a break away from all the stresses of life. The Gully has everything you need to host your stay. Its a perfect home from home, with some lovely perks Hot Tub and Pool table! Thanks again Sykes and to the owners. We'll be back Im sure! Jason

6 adults, one toddler and two dogs had the best weekend at The Gully. We booked it for my Mums 60th birthday so we could all spend some quality time together and it did not disappoint! The property is spacious and very well equipped, the rooms are large and we all loved having a games room and hot tub to use whilst we were there. Having the log burner on whilst we settled down to watch a movie in the living room was such a treat too. We would love to return to The Gully for another family stay soon.
We did not use the tv in the lounge until Sunday afternoon. We had considerable trouble getting any pictutre or sound. The tv kept saying we had no network. When we tried to input the gully network and password it would not accept it. We rang Sarah as advised but she could not offer help on a sunday afternoon. We the tried by taking out the plug and restarting it. This did not work first time but did on the second time. From then the tv was fine but it did take about one and a half hours to get to that stage.

We visited for a hen do and the quality of the accommodation exceeded our expectations and was even better than the photos. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms had some wonderful toiletries which was a really nice touch. We enjoyed the jacuzzi which was nice and hot and the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed using the log burner on one of the evenings too. My only markdown would be for cleanliness in the kitchen. The rest of the property was nice and clean but the kitchen drawers are quite dirty and could do with a deep clean.
Great location. Well equipped kitchen. Fab games room. Loved the hot tub. Would recommend for a retreat at any time of the year.
What a beautiful place to stay in, perfect location and some lovely walks close by.
Upstairs right hand bedroom, bathroom smelt of drains. Everywhere cleaning awful, superficial, needed a deep clean, corners, under furniture, under cushions also under downstairs single bed, lots of previous occupant's debris. Kitchen equipment dirty, coffee dregs still in machine on arrival, dishwasher filter needed cleaning, blunt knives, tin opener not usable. Room doors dropped and difficult to shut, main back door didn't open by end of stay. No spare toilet rolls. Sykes support abysmal. No way of contacting, service query was closed automatically without an agent contacting me.
Caroline
A lovely property, very comfortable and in a peaceful location.

Excellent property, great location .
We had a lovely few days off grid here. A beautiful property with everything you need and a bit of luxury to top it off.
We had a fantastic stay the property was absolutely excellent. Beautifully presented, incredibly clean and very comfortable. Everything was thoughtfully arranged and wellequipped, making it feel like a home away from home. We truly loved it and wouldnt hesitate to return.
The Gully was perfect! The facilities at the barn are outstanding. Having a pool table, hot tub and table tennis in the garden to name but a few, made the holiday plenty of relaxation and fun. I would highly recommend the property and if I am ever in the area again, would definitely return.
Such a lovely comfortable house which had pretty much everything you could ever wish for in a long weekend away. We really appreciated the welcome pack. Only thing missing was dishwasher tablets so make sure you take some. Beautiful walks from the front door and our dog also really enjoyed chasing balls in the secure enclosed garden. We had glorious weather but the house would be lovely even in pouring rain.

The property was amazing with great facilities for a fun short break or even a long stay. The games room is perfect for evenings with the family or if it's raining. The hot tub was a great size and lovely and warm. We used the badminton rackets and had a great game in the back garden. I was really impressed with the fire....so warm and cozy. As a family we agreed it was the best place we stayed so far. I would like to thank the owner for making our stay unforgettable.
The Gulley is simply superb! We're a small family of 5 adults and 3 grandchildren and our plan was a prexmas break so we could all have a bit of luxury and chill in the countryside. The experience was better than expected, the property had lovely little Xmas touches including a large dressed tree in the lounge that our grand kids loved. From sitting in front of the log burner to sitting in the hot tub it was a perfect break and thank you Sykes for making it easy via your website. We'll definitely be back! Merry Christmas Ralph and Rocco x
A fantastic property with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. Loved the games room and the outside space was lovely. Great location with plenty to do within a short distance.
Annette
Staying at the Gully has been lovely. A wonderful property with great features. The amazing hall entrance with so much space. Beautiful bedrooms throughout. An amazing kitchendining room with an abundance of crockerycutlery. Very comfortable lounge area looking out to the garden & lovely hot tub. The games room was a bonus. The whole property has been tastefully decorated & fitted out. A very clean property. Would definitely stay again.
Hannah
Absolutely perfect. Owner was wonderful and house stunning. Ticked all the boxes. Loved by all 8 of us!
Sue & Mike
A lovely and well maintained property that suited all three generations. Lots of thoughtful detail, and very welcome treats on arrival. Thank You for sharing the Gully with us.
We all really enjoyed our stay at The Gully a lovely clean, open and bright space. Worked perfectly for three generations, downstairs accommodation for my elderly Mum, teenage boys loved the games room and the star of the show was the hot tub for them! Great to have the open plan living space so everyone could feel involved and lovely big enclosed garden for our dog to enjoy too! We enjoyed a few trips out to towns such as Sherborne and the Dorset coast. Only downside was a walk to the local pubs to find both closed on a Sunday of the bank holiday weekend!
The Gully provided perfect accommodation for our family of three generations and three dogs. We enjoyed a very successful week with everything we needed as the house was very well equipped. The games room and the hot tub were the greatest hits and it was good to know the dogs were able to enjoy the large garden securely.
Would have liked the hot tub maintained during our stay. But not a major problem.
Richard
Cottage is well presented, well equipped and living spaces plenty big enough for 8 peopleamazing to have such a fresh and clean cottage which is dog friendly. Lovely touches eg fresh oj and milk in the fridge, coffee beans, tea etc to facilitate a nice cuppa on arrivalalso, fresh flowering plants a great addition. Loved the location, and owners immediate response when a minor hiccup presented itself. Only one comment on the flip.size of twin room only really suitable for children, but that said, would return .thank you!
We had a lovely long weekend at the gully. This is our second stay at this accommodation and it feels like a home from home. We really enjoyed the hot tub, games room and social living area. The kitchen has everything you need. We will definitely be returning again in the future.
Sioban
What an amazing property. We loved every part of it. The communication with the owners was fantastic. We had an issue with the heating, so the owners had a solution and solved the problem. The hot tub was a hot with the whole family.
Zubair
A good looking property but a number of issues faced at the property, no hot water, no central heating, no under floor heating, towel rails not working. First night meant having cold showers. hot water was fixed next day but then dipped again towards end of stay. Plumbers came round to try and fix heating and radiators but were not successful. Flies in kitchen, plates and pans not left clean on arrival and crumbs in cutlery tray. Not great signal with TV and remote control. Games room doesn't have a table tennis table as shown in photos. No tumble dryer or washing machine with dry option was available and towel rails not working made difficult to dry towels and clothes. One electric towel rail was provided to dry clothes, which had to be cleaned first as it was filthy with mud and dust. The hot tub could do with a proper clean and with an interim mid week clean during a week stay.
Priscilla
An excellent property, large, comfortable and ideal for a group of friends. It was well equipped. On the slight downside, we all found the beds far too soft but this, of course, might be personal preference. There was nowhere in the showers to put soap, shampoo, etc except on the floor which is less than ideal for anyone, but particularly for older people, and the heated towel rails were NOT heated. All the rooms were warm, however, so the heating was obviously working.
Tracey
Lovely property and owners. Great to be able to take thee generations and the dog. Beautifully decorated and furnished. Very well equipped kitchen. Ensuites and walk in wardrobes make getting up and out so much easier. The location is lovely too
The Gully is lovely! The kitchen & games room are well equipped & the spacious open plan living room area opening up onto the garden is ideal. The hot tub was great! The only suggestion I have would be to add a grab rail by the toilet & in the shower of the wet room off the ground floor bedroom. We stayed with my mother who has mobility issues & she felt this would help her feel a little safer. Everything else was spot on. We will certainly consider another holiday at The Gully.
Horace
We had a great stay at the Gully and everything was as described. We loved the fact that we could cook and relax in one big room with comfortable seating for ev
Evelyn
We spent a fab week with family celebrating my hubby's 70th. There was plenty of space and the games room was a big hit. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed. A welcome pack including milk was very useful. The garden is large, private and totally enclosed which made it safe for children. We didn't have a dog with us but the garden would have been ideal I'm sure if we had. It was very warm during our stay but by keeping the large back patio doors open, the cooler air reached the upstairs. The owners are on hand but not intrusive. It was a most lovely week's stay.
Leanne
Wonderful stay here with our family and 2 dogs. Garden fully enclosed so no worry with the dogs escaping. Met the owners who were lovely. Hot tub and games room massive hit. Perfect being open plan so no one felt excluded. Having 3 out of the 4 bedrooms ensuite suited the different family groups. A beautiful home. Can highly recommend.
Michael
We all had an amazing time at the gully. The photos did not do the property justice and looked even better once we were there. Loved the games room now with a pool table and the lovely jacuzzi. It is one of the only places we could find that was dog friendly and allowed 3 well behaved dogs with a good sized enclosed garden for them all to enjoy. We will definitely be considering another stay here. Thanks again. Michael, Amy, Stuart, Jules and the puppies Betty, Bella and Boo
Rachel
Amazing property. Perfect for a group with great facilities and space. Thank you
Really enjoyed our stay. The photos do not do it justice. Lovely spacious accommodation. Comfortable seating and sleeping. Really enjoyed our stay here, would recommend to anyone and would definitely return!
Sandra
