The Arched House, Lyme Regis

We all had a wonderful time at The Arched House arriving to a surprise loaf from the bakery next door, local cheese and bottles of local beercider plus milk in the fridge! We were a party of 7 sadly one unable to come so not 8 as originally booked school friends who meet each year for a weekend of walking, talking and eating cake We discovered bit by bit that the lovely coffee table books, tasteful decor and framed seaweed pictures were the work of our hostess and also that she ran seaweed pressing workshops had we known in advance we would have loved to join one of these so we visited her shop next to the mill to purchase cards, tea towels and postcards. We found plenty to do from hiring a beach hut easier for changing!, swimming in the sea, exploring the fossil pavements, fossil museum, Mary Anning statue, seal spotting, browsing the lovely shops, tour of the working mill, walking to UpLyme for a lovely ploughmans lunch at The Talbot Arms and the Undercliff walk to Seaton for the fittest in our party!. We enjoyed local beers, a beautiful seafood platter from the wet fish shop, fish and chips from the top of the road and a delightful Meal at Rockliffe with the added delight of visits to the cloakroom to hear their take on The Shipping Forecast.. not to be missed. We were there for four nights and the other evening meal was provided by private chef Steve Pielesz who cooked a delicious four course meal as part of our 70th birthday year celebrations The Arched House is wonderfully located to enjoy all of the local facilities on foot. We did discover, however, that it is not easy to get taxis if you are from London and used to using uber!! and well worth booking ahead if, like us, you come on public transport and need to get to Axminster for a set train. Would also suggest that by the time we reach our 80th year we may not be agile enough to climb the steep stairs to the second floor bedrooms. Thanks to our hosts for a lovely weekend. A wonderful holiday property! Three generations of the family enjoyed a birthday weekend celebration at the Arched House. It was clean, wellequipped and very comfortable for everyone plus in a superb location for all that Lyme Regis has to offer. We would definitely recommend it!

We have stayed at the arched house several times and always appreciated its very good facilities. Its spacious and very well equipped. Having two sitting rooms is really good, enabling youngsters to have their own space. The owners were very quick to respond to any quieres we had. The beach is just a few minutes away, making g up for the lack of a garden and all the shops are within easy walking distance. We love the closeness of the river too allowing a lovely walk along and up to Uplyme and the pub for a welcome drink.We really enjoyed our week. Thank you. Norma Bramley

The property was excellent My only problem is actually getting hold of Sykes property. You cant get hold of them by phone and the online chat you are directed to doesnt work properly.

We've had a great family holiday with 3 generations. The location was perfect for our needs with easy access to the beach, museums and shops. Big and spacious with a lovely well equipped kitchen. Beds were very comfortable. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

We had a lovely 3night stay in this wonderful house. It was so comfortable, stylish and well equipped. It was also in an ideal location down near the sea front so we could stroll to the beach without needing to hike up or down steep hills.

Basically lovely stay thanks so much. But some feeling the cottage could have been a bit better provided for in way of washing up gloves, kitchen towel, bit more generous provision of loo paper, stuff to clean the bath!

Having stayed at the Arched House several times before we knew what to expect and were not disappointed in the least. It catered well for three generations of the family and no doubt we will be seeking to repeat the experience once our plans for 2026 are known. The house is so convenient for what we need and do in Lyme with a short level walk to the beach and plenty of nearby shops and restaurants.

We have just had a fantastic week staying in The Arched House in Lyme Regis. The location is fantastic, being a few minutes from the sea front and right next to the bakery! The facilities within the house are superb and they have thought of everything. The kitchen is well equipped and it was so good to be somewhere everyone could sit around the table and eat together. The beds are extremely comfortable and what a treat for everyone to have their own bathroom! I would highly recommend and would happily return again.

The house was in a wonderful location, however the master bedroom at the front of the property was extremely noisy which made it difficult to sleep. The stairs in the property were steep and slippery and not particularly suitable for young children. It would have been useful to have another parking permit as we had 2 cars and worked out quite expensive in parking fees. It was well equipped and comfortable

The holiday home was fab for 2 families with teenagers. Excellent location Well equipped and very clean Thank you for providing the perfect accommodation for our summer holiday

We have stayed at this lovely house three times now and it never disappoints. . lots of space for children and adults to share. We cooked every night and the equipment was more than adequate. The whole house is so tastefully decorated without sacrifice of comfort. Shops and beach on the doorstep and excellent fish and chips a few minutes from the house!

We enjoyed a wonderful stay in the beautiful Arched House. The attention to detail in this stunningly presented house meant our stay was perfect. This is my second visit hopefully not my last! Ideally situated, being a two minute level walk from the beach and shops. I would highly recommend.

We have spoken with the owner of the Arched House who were on vacation when we were there for 2 out of 3 weeks. We had problems especially with the trash & recycling and when we asked for help, Chester told us wed be getting help which never materialized in Lyme Regis. When our trash began to leak and smell , we got help. The support personnel in Lyme was very good.

We love Arch House the fact that we have missed only COVID years in the last decade probably says it all ! !!

Lovely place and enjoyed the stay

A wonderful long weekend staying at The Arched House with friends. Fabulous location, only a few minutes from the sea. Next door to the Town Mill Bakery for morning pastries or for an eatin brunch. The Arched House is beautiful. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Lots of bathrooms too. The large kitchen diner is a wonderful space and the river runs underneath the window. We had requested all the beds were made up as singles and on arrival this had not been done, however a quick telephone call and someone was there in minutes to sort it out. There is no parking at the house but you are given a permit for a car park a few minutes walk away. We were able to pull up outside the house and quickly unload although you are blocking the road when you do this, however people didn't seem to mind. You won't need the car again as everything is on your doorstep. We would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful house.

The Arched House is simply the best house we have stayed in. Excellent. The owner was engaging too.

The property was excellent, as usual. However since the takeover of Lyme Bay Holidays by Sykes, the price charged has risen dramatically. This I'm sure is due to the Sykes taking the increase in price as increase in profit. I notice that there were a number of properties in Lyme Regis vacant for the half term holiday, maybe this was due to the increase in prices? Also the Arched house was not fully booked throughout August and price reductions were being offered. There needs to be a rethink Sykes, of your strategies, especially in the present financial climate. It shouldnt be cheaper to go abroad than holiday here in UK. I look forward to a return to more reasonable prices next year as we would love to return.

Beautiful house, very central and with fabulous rooms. There weren't any dishwasher tabs or washing up liquid when we arrived but owners were happy to provide them when asked. Loved the ability to request single beds be made up rather than doubles. Lots of bathrooms & loos...very useful for a big group. Parking permit was great as were the multiple sets of keys. Overall a wonderful house.

Beautiful and extremely well appointed house. Everything we needed 3 generations. Particularly grateful for shrimp nets, buckets & spades and logs for a fire! Location spot on as ever.

It was lovely to be back in a rejuvenated Arch House and we felt privileged to stay there.

The property was lovey, really nicely furnished and tastefully decorated. Well equipped for all our holiday needs. Perfect position so close to the beach & town.

Really lovely property, lots of lovely touches. Great bedding great kitchen and equipment lovely interior Only minor criticism is the bathrooms could be updated.
