Tillicum Reviews

Andrew
Flooring surrounding toilet base unfinished, large jagged gaps exposing cement under flooring bathtub not that clean and uninviting aside from kitchen waste bin, only one small hygiene bin next to the toilet poor lighting for reading throughout, including bedside. No lighting at all on the enclosed porch and no outlet for bringing one of the only two table lamps out there. The overhead lights are cold and too bright. The house is wellfurnished but not cosy. It may work in the summer months, but not recommended for cold winter holidays. The kitchen was wellequipped, tho only two wonky egg cups provided. No welcome offering whatsoever, as supplied in most holiday lets. Adequate but overall rather disappointing.
Eleanor
The house is in a lovely position and its outlooks are good. It is a perfect place to stay in the warmer months as the sunroom is perfect, but it can be cold in the winter. We managed to cook some festive meals over Christmas but the kitchen is small and a washing up bowl would have been useful. There is no way of recycling anything at this property, which is disappointing.

For quite an expensive property I would expect a far better level of customer service. I rented Tillicum as a base for my family, a group of 8 people, to celebrate my husband's 70th and in general the house is in a nice situation and a good size which suited our needs very well....... except for the supply of hot water. I was warned a day before that there was an issue with the hot water pressure, blamed on external work done by Wessex Water, and I wasn't too pleased as it gave me no other option than to continue with my booking at such a late stage. I checked several online reviews and discovered that this is a historical problem that has not been addressed, and hot water pressure is the house owner's responsibility, not that of the water company. In reality there is hot water but it takes a long time for the baths to fill by a couple of inches and the shower does not work at all. My biggest complaint though is the handling of the issue by Sykes, and their lack of customer service. They sent an email 24 hours before warning me of the situation and gave me a number to phone for help, which no one answered in the two hours I tried to get through. I rang several other numbers and also wrote an email to them which has never been answered. There seems to be no successful way of contacting Sykes once they have taken your money, and this could be a serious issue if there was an emergency.

We had a really enjoyable holiday staying at Tillicum. The sun lounge was amazing. The owners should update their photos to show the byfold windows looking out to the sea. The views were stunning. Kitchen was very well equipped and beds very comfortable.
Jennifer
A lovely warm and surprisingly spacious house. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful location with beautiful sea views and a quick walk down to the beach. Its true that some of the furnishings are a bit tired but its a holiday home and it was great for us a family of 3 adults. The only suggestion is that as it was winter the bedding wasnt warm enough and it meant we had to use the heating more than we would have done with warmer bed coverings.
Sheila
We found the sun room lovely, upstairs bathroom and kitchen very nice, we felt the property needed a bit of decoration in places and therefore a bit expensive for the week. A key safe at the property would be good, as we had to go into Lyme Regis to pick the keys up, then back into Lyme Regis to return the keys which all took time.
Miriam
Tillicum is perfect for views of cliffs & especially the sun room that faces the sea sleeps 8 though so it could do with more of the IKEA comfortable chairs in there. Couple of minutes walk down to beachcliff walks. Kitchen well equipped. If honest the house could feel much cosier,it feels dated and bathrooms need nice showers & decorating after all its not a cheap holiday let. But wed recommend it for position & Charmouth is lovely.
Great property, great views. .loved it. Very walkable to town and Bach and great balcony for lazing and appreciating the surroundings. Small welcome kit would've been good. Few tea bags, milk etc
We had a fantastic weekend at Tillicum. The views were even better than the photos, and the accommodation had everything that we needed. It was very quiet, maybe because it was so early in the season, but we were able to completely relax immediately. I couldn't recommend the property any higher. Just perfect.
Eleanor
We loved the house. It is spacious, well decorated and furnished and the sun room is just wonderful. We all sat in there a lot and watched the weather, sea and nature generally. The garden is large and surrounds the house and there is practically no passing traffic, making it very quiet and peaceful. It is a few minutes walk to the beach and the towns facilities and there are plenty of interesting towns and beaches within the ash reach.
I cannot master wash dryers. I would like a clothes line if possible. and more than one front door key.
Alison
A most disappointing holiday rental not up to the standard we would expect at this price. The property is tired and needs updating. Cleaners obviously not doing their job in reporting wornbroken items. Washing machine not working due to broken door why had this not been reported? Fridge in need of cleaning a flood in the bottom prevented the veg drawers being opened. Garden covered in dog poo and with a wasps next in the grass lawn not ideal for children. Many other things wrong. The best thing about the property was the position, close to the beach. How they can think of charging over 2000 for a week in this poorly maintained property is quite beyond us we feel ripped off.
We had a fabulous time at Tillicum. Great location and really spacious for a family including 6 adults and 2 toddlers. Every thing that you could need in terms of washing machine, dishwasher, hover etc. We had a problem with the washing machine door, contacted Lyme Bay Holidays and someone was out within 2 hours. Excellent service! We loved it!.
Robert
Convenient location with spectacular sea views.
Pamela
Kitchen was well stocked with equipment though a lemon squeezer would be good to provide and maybe some plastic storage boxes would help limit the use of clingfilmfoil. It would be great to be able to do proper recycling and a bit of information with regard rubbish pickup so we know when to put the rubbish out. It was good to see dishwasher tablets supplied and I'm not sure what the restrictions are with regard supplying some basics or a welcome pack but could be something to consider in the future. It would be useful within the information folder to include some phone numbersinfo with regard local taxi services, nearest doctor, hospital, recycling bins etc.We couldn't find any feedback reviews online,so maybe a visitors book with dates and local recommendations would be helpful. But we would love to return and really enjoyed the property and the area.
