Yarrow Reviews

I have already given a verbal review to your office by telephone. Essentially the property could do with some TLC and lacked adequate equipment.
Joanna
We loved the house and the beautiful view. There was plenty of room and the house was clean and comfortable. We did struggle with the heating, some rooms were boiling and others were cool. The kitchen was great and well equipped and we loved the welcome pack. The bedroom furniture particularly the wardrobes and drawers were of cheap quality with some damage not done during our stay. None of us could get the wardrobe open in the master bedroom! Overall it worked very well for our large group 6 ladies, and Im sure we would return.
Nicholas
Lovely, we'll kept property in good location
Elizabeth
A lovely house, with beautiful views, that suited our party from 8 months to 82 years down to the ground. The outside steps weren't too challenging for the seniors. There is plenty of living space, the bedrooms were all of a good size. We have rented a number of properties as a family & the only issues that arose were the same as any otherFirstly, issues with bins, always being almost full when we arrive. I know this isn't the fault of the owner, but of the local councils because the bins aren't emptied regularly enough It has happened in Devon and Cornwall too but this time we ran out of bin space altogether, and the bins weren't emptied & I had to contact Sykes, who advised us to leave the refuse in the property, which wasn't ideal. And there always seems to be a shortage of serving dishes in holiday rental properties. But I guess this is subjective, as no one can guestimate what meals are going to be served! But, at the end of the day, it was a great house & I think I can safely say that if we decide to holiday in the area again, we would happily return to Yarrow.
The seals on the dishwasher are coming out so unfortunately the dishwasher leaks if these aren't slid into place. We couldn't find a manual on how to use the oven. Wdle did figure it out eventually thanks Google! but a manual might be useful for others.
Melanie
This is our second visit here, its a lovely house and wonderfully situated. We would have like to return for our holiday next year but sadly does not seem bookable next year. It is well furnished and the kitchen is well stocked. We had the some issues though the stair gate is provided but does not fit the stairs and we had 2 under 2 year olds The patio area is great but with 2 sets of wide concrete steps with no way of closing them off, makes the area dangerous with young children. The option to have the twin room made up to a double was requested on both visits but was not done either time
Andrew
Very impressive property and perfect for our mixed family group of 3 adults and 4 children. The rooms were all a very good size and the beds were comfortable. Beautiful views of Charmouth Beach. The appliances were not the best, particularly the dishwasher and for such a large property that would host large groups it was a very small washing machine. The cutlery and pots and pans were also not the greatest for such a property. But we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and these are minor gripes.
I really enjoyed my recent stay at Yarrow. The house has magnificent views out to sea and to the Isle of Portland. There is a tranquil atmosphere that helps you relax as soon as you arrive. The house is well appointed and is ideal for an extended family stay. if you like an untamed beach with a river flowing across its sand and shingle Charmouth is the place for you with the added attraction of fossil finding and a great collection to view at the visitor centre. here are wonderful walks in every direction across the unspoiled Dorset countryside and the nearby Lyme Regis offers many good quality eating and drinking venues. We stayed at Yarrow as two families with four children and had one of the best weeks I can remember. We all loved our daily walk down to the beach around 15 minutes down, 20 back up the hill even in cold weather. Charmouth is a quiet town with a couple of friendly pubs, cafes and great local shop for essentials. The house itself is very comfortable with loads of open space and a view that I will never forget. Amazing memories all round and we will absolutely be back one day soon. Tom, Naro and family
Nicola
Yarrow is a lovely home in a beautiful location but in real need, in many areas, to be improved from a safety and comfort point of view. I think from previous reviews you are aware of what those issues are. If you are hoping for returning custom I would address these issues sooner rather than later.
Nicholas
Lovely location and aspect, with views over Lyme Bay. ..Plenty of space for a large family and spotlessly clean..
Rebecca
Most of the bedroom storage was broken, the bins hadn't been emptied and weren't during our stay despite us putting them out. The sliding doors are temperamental and do not always lock. If you want need WiFi this is not the property for you, although this didn't bother us. One of the tub chairs is broken springs sticking through and one of the downstairs single beds also has springs sticking through. Many of the pans do not work on the hob they are not induction compatible. Garden needs some TLC. Outside chairs on the roof terrace are broken. On the positives Easy to find. Super location for visiting the local beaches and places of interest. Some great places to eat nearby.
Andrew
An excellent property with fantastic views and good facilities. We did not give this 5 stars because one of the lounge chairs had broken springs and some outdoor chairs were in poor condition headroom upstairs was limited, especially for tall people the dishwasher seals had gone, so it leaked. Could do with more smaller saucepans the rubbish hadn't been collected a point often mentioned before, the bins were full by the time we left. The bins said no food waste but there was nowhere else to put it and our enquiries couldn't answer this point no recycling facilities, which is very poor for the environment all other properties in the road had their bins and recycling collected.
The property is lovely big, full of light, and superb views. The facilities kitchen, bathrooms all spotless and well stocked. The welcome pack was one of the best we have had. Well thought out and generous. The internet worked but is very slow and the TV signal also has a poor reception. We were supposed to put the towels in clear plastic bags but the previous occupants or cleaners had used them as bin liners. There were no other bin liners provided and the bins were full to overflowing. Overall it's a superb property and we would happily come back there.
Melanie
This is a beautiful house in a beautiful setting, we would happily stay there again. We loved the views, charmouth and Lyme Regis. The kitchen was well stocked. The house was clean bright and well furnished and laid out There were however a couple of issues. We were there with 4 children 2 babies 22 month old and a 3yr old The patio has 2 sets of steps leading down steep concrete steps but there are no gates or any way of blocking it, which makes it unsafe for small children of which we have 2. A wooden gate on both would make it safe and a child friendly space. There were 2 stair gates in the property. One was not suitable for the stairs at all so could not be used, the other needed to be fixed requiring drilling and screwing so again could not be used. We had requested that the single beds be made up as a big bed, this was not done, we could not find any linen to do it and recieved no reply to our message of concern until 34 days later. The internet is very poor Lastly a caution to small dog owners the garden is not secure
A beautiful house in the most stunning location plenty of space & v well equipped.
We had a wonderful break in this comfortable spacious property. It is perfect for families with children and a pet. The property just needs a fix up re the items mentioned by previous visitors, oven instructions, door repairs, patio and ground floor toilet. Cafetiere pot was missing, which is a shame as we had delicious coffee in our welcome pack. We bought one locally. I did email Lyme Bay, but no response received, however this is a minor issue. There also appears to be a couple of water leaks. The rubbish collection and recycling arrangements were also an issue for us, bins were not emptied and we had to leave bagged rubbish in the house when we left. That aside, we wouldn't hesitate to book again if staying in the area.
Lovely property, just a few little things that could be improved, heated towel ... Lovely property, just a few little things that could be improved, heated towel rail in toilet up stairs not working, twin beds need larger duvets, television reception was poor
Joanne
This is an absolutely beautiful property with stunning views over Charmouth beach. The location is perfect for exploring the area and the property is very well equipped with everything you would need. The only improvement I could suggest is to invest in some new mattresses especially the bunk beds as there were some groans about springs coming through. Other than that we had a magnificent time.
Rachael
Loved this property . Beautiful views . Stunning home with everything you need. Spotlessly clean and equipped . Had a wonderful week .
Rosslyn
Fantastic panoramic views from the large windows. Great open plan perfect for family to be together. Great underfloor heating much appreciated by crawling granddaughter and sitting on the floor play. Well equipped kitchen, appreciated the welcome pack and adequate toilet rolls, hand soap & kitchen roll. A really great place to stay in comfort.
We 3 couples plus children and a dog have just spent a lovely few days at Yarrow over the New Year as the weather was awful it was wonderful to have such a pleasant and spacious house to stay in. Amazing sea views from both balconies and the main bedroom. House is just as it looks in the photos. Great location for Charmouth beach, and we walked over to Lyme Regis just a couple of miles away. Excellent visitors folder in the property with lots of recommendations for things to do, local walks and eateries etc. Would definitely recommend.
A perfect spot for an early Christmas break
Nicholas
Clear instructions on how to turn on heating for upstairs particularly in bathrooms, bedrooms, plus information on how to deal with biowaste for recycling would be useful. Broad band poor and could only get BBC channels on TV. Otherwise nice spacious property for our stay with great view.
Sandra
This amazing house was just perfect. The views were stunning. It was modern and very clean with all you could possibly want for a large group. Perched high above the beach a car would be advisable. The walk to the beach was easy and into town but the walk back quite strenuous. Without the house's high position you wouldn't have a view so well worth the climb. So glad we chose Yarrow. Rubbish disposal could have been made clearer would be my only criticism.
Andrea
Had a fantastic family holiday 6 adults, a 2 year old and a dog in Yarrow, a perfect property for a large mixed group, plenty of room for everyone without being on top of each other. And many thanks for the lovely welcome pack of local goodies on arrival. A great location and only a short walk to beach. Fantastic views of the coast and countryside which can be enjoyed on an extensive verandah or 2 Ample parking for 3 cars. Facilities inside the property were good, all the kitchen utensils and crockery you needed. Hob and extractor on island were great, oven seemed to require longer cooking time and took a little sussing out! Lovely big dining table, great for playing games at in the evening bring your own games as none in the property. Well equipped Utility room a real bonus, lots of room for wet coats and footwear! And a low sink for washing the dog! All bedrooms a good size. Nice shower room and extra cloakroom upstairs, main bathroom downstairs needs a little tlc around bath panel area. Overall, a well maintained and equipped property in a beautiful and quiet location, would definitely recommend. Minor points stair gate wouldnt fit at bottom of stairs. Quite a few cobwebs in downstairs bedrooms. Tv quite small for large space mainly moaned about by male guests
This is our third visit to Yarrow and we were again very pleased with our stay. In particular not only the welcome pack but the starter household items such as dishwasher tablets etc etc. We were also pleased at the provision of kitchen equipment as we ate in most evenings and also the availability of glasses mugs etc. My major feedback is the comfort of the downstairs double bed mattress which probably needs replaced as the springs are too prominent. The wifi is also not brilliant but talking to the neighbours they do not report any problems.
Deborah
Gorgeous place! Fabulous views, roomy and comfortable. A splendid terrace and a lovely garden
Melanie
Disappointed that the patio door didn't open from the kitchen. There was a leak in the utility room. Very disappointed that Sykes didn't honour the NHS Blue Light discount that was advertised at the time of booking.
Exactly what we hoped for as the base for our family get together and birthday celebrations. The location is superb and nearby area perfect for walks and exploring.
A fabulous property and location but spoilt by inadequate kitchen equipment. Oven was poor, kitchen knives blunt and no sharpener, lack of serving dishes, crockery poor quality and insufficient for ten people. Dinner plates would not fit in dishwasher. Wifi is poor, a guest needed to work online and was not able to maintain a stable connection. Claims to be child friendly but no cot, stairgate or high chair. Tumble dryer filter was badly clogged and could not of been checked in months, a serious fire hazard. No outside table when we arrived. New one was provided on our last day but would only seat six. We were not notified that a maintenance man would be attending the property.
I've shared my general feedback multiple times during the stay, but for completeness 1 Owners having turned the heating off so the house was freezing when we arrived. Maintenance man was unable to resolve when he came out was very apologetic and generally helpful, but couldn't resolve the issue. This interrupted our dinner on Day 1 and meant that evening and throughout the night the house was extremely cold, which is not ideal for anyone, but especially with an 18 month old. 2 Second day we got a message to say heating had been resolved it hadn't we had to chase multiple times to get someone to come out again, including keeping getting calls from you which would ring once, then hang on. We'd then have to phone back and leave a message and wait for another call. All very tedious and time consuming to ruin our second day. Maintenance man did arrive eventually again in the middle of our tea time and turned all the heating back on and informed us the owners had turned it off to save money. 3 None of the outside lights work I noticed this was noted in the guest book a couple of months ago but still not resolved 4 No outside table maintenance man informed this had been smashed in wind about four months ago and a new one not purchased yet, although the frame of the table was still kicking around the garden. We were offered a four person one on Day 3 or 4, but when there's five of you that isn't really much good. 5 There was dog poo in the garden not ideal with an 18 month year old who wants to run away and play out there 6 There were gummy sweets left all under the sofas from a previous stay 7 The oven doesn't work properly if you want something to cook put it on the top shelf or don't bother. 8 One of the doors to the garden doesn't open informed that had been the case for over a year perhaps having something in the visitors book or welcome pack would make sense if you know it is an issue not being fixed. Suggest you also move the blinds around so they open to the side which doesnt open, as it is you open the blinds and then get caught in them trying to go through the only door which opens 9 The lock on the upstairs bathroom doesnt work and again reading in the guest book hasnt for a year so not really sure why that hasnt been fixed. 10 There are no chopping boards again something picked up in the guest book multiple times and over a year ago. As I said before the property is in a great location and has the potential to be something really special, but it seems it isnt getting the attention it needs. When Ive paid for the privilege I expect some basic form of care to have been taken with the property and especially for the owners not to have turned the heating off to ruin the first couple of days.
Verity
The property is spacious and clean with good facilities and amazing views! We found that due to the house being minimalistic noise traveled around the house meaning that our younger children woke others up in the morning! The internet wasnt very good at all with internet dropping from the tv and devices regularly! The patio door off the kitchen wouldnt open during our stay and there was outside table! Overall its a lovely house in a beautiful location!
Super property, perfect location with great views of the sea. Really well kitted out with everything needed. Lots of space. Great to have three bathrooms to use. Comfortable beds. Easily enough parking for four cars. We had a fantastic stay.
Very spacious property with stunning views. Beds very comfortable with lovely pillows and bedding. Kitchendining area large which made the sitting area next door quite small.. A bigger television would have been a bonus, especially at this time of the year. Central heating was very efficient and there was always plenty of hot water. A frying pan that worked on the hob would have been good. Some of the plates were crazed and could do with replacing. We had wonderful weather for late February, watching the sun rise over Golden Cap every morning and being able to sit on the patios for morning coffee. All in all, a good property for a family get together.
Melanie
Only 8 puddingbreakfast bowls provided for 10 people. Dinner plates have an outward sloping lip. Never seen this before. Lots of gravy spillage as we didn't realise till it was too late. Definitely need ovenhob instructions in Information Book. First place I looked for instructions and nothing in there. Also needs mentioning it is an induction hob so only pans provided will work on hob. Otherwise we were very pleased with the house and everything provided.
