Braeside Reviews

Patricia
Spacious, welcoming, well equipped and comfortable accommodation. The games room is an added bonus. Thoroughly enjoyed by a family of seven aged eight to eighty.
Braeside proved to be the ideal property for us with 9 people staying, ranging in age from 5 to 75. The house was a good base from which to go to the beach at Lyme Regis. The older family drove but it was only a 15 minute for the younger ones to walk. The welcome pack on the kitchen table was much appreciated. Nice house with plenty of character.
Lovely stay at Braeside, it's a great place for a big group. There were seven of us, adults and kids, so the pool table was an absolute godsend, as were all the books and puzzles. There is plenty of space to relax together and apart! and its decorated thoughtfully and with character. The garden is also really pretty. It is a bit of a walk to town, maybe 15 minutes but if you have food, drinks and a movie at the lovely little Fox and Owl Cellar cinema, they give you a lift back up the hill in their minibus! A great place and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

We really enjoyed the space Braeside offered for our family of 10. The games room, kitchen, lounge, outdoor space, first floor bedrooms & ensuites were all comfortable & spacious. 2nd floor bedrooms were as described & comfortable. The shower in the main bathroom could do with an upgrade to match the ensuites on the first floor which were all lovely. It could also do with some shelves to put toiletries on for those using that bathroom ie those sleeping on the 3rd floor. The kitchen was well equipped. Small glass tumblers would have been ideal for the spirit drinkers in our party. Enjoyed early morning walks to the beach, cold water swim, followed by great coffee at Kiosk along the sea front.steep climb back for breakfast at Braeside!

We enjoyed our stay at Braeside and found the house warm and comfortable for a November break. The kitchen is well equiped and we enjoyed the games room. The sitting room really needs curtains which are shown in the online listing but are not there A shower in the main bathroom would be a good addition as we all ended up using the 2 en suite showers. The main bathroom also needs curtains or a blind .
We all enjoyed our few days at the property. The cottage was clean and the beds very comfortable. The games room was a huge success with the children. The large kitchen table was also very handy for board games in the evening. The welcome pack was a very nice touch. The Victorian cottage was a building of its time. There was a musty smell in a number of the rooms on arrival. Although the windows were opened in the day, there was still a faint smell in the evening. The enclosed garden with the large table was a good place to relax but the foliage needed to be tidied up. A thorny bush adjacent to a gate to gain entrance to the front door of the house needed cutting back. The light in one of the en suites was not working. After contacting the agents, someone was quickly sent out to fix it. However it almost immediately broke down again. We let the agents know again so they could fix this after we had left. These are small things which could be fixed. The cottage was also on a very busy road which we did not expect. However it was a lovely few days away and the children didn't want to leave.

Sadly, the 2600 we paid to stay here for 3 nights 2 days was not worth it. Being an old property it smelt musty in several of the rooms, and the kitchen has a dark, gloomy appearance due to the decor. The downstairs felt cold, but baking hot in the bedrooms on the top floor. During heavy rain, the ceiling in the lounge was leaking and we had to place a pot under it. The listing does not point out it is on a very busy road and about a 20 minute walk, at a fast pace to the town. Garden gloomy with no sun, due to heavy Shrubberytrees surrounded property. On a plus side the games room was good.

A family holiday with children and grandchildren. Comfortable house and well equipped Games room is a great additional space Secure garden although steep in places for the little ones Great that the local bus stops right outside
Pamela
Excellent property for celebrating a 70th birthday with family. The children loved playing hide and seek, the games room was a great success, comfortable lounge and good size table in the kitchen for us all to gather around for meals. Bedrooms all had very comfortable beds and bathrooms spotlessly clean.
Sophie
House had everything we needed apart from a bread knife, rooms were clean and comfortable, games room was brilliant for the children and grownups! . Only issues were with the plumbing toilet above the stairs blocked totally once, they came out and fixed it immediately which was great but looked like it was going again after being fixed so we avoided using it after that. Water pressure showers went off if anyone else touched a tap or flush at the same time but that may be to do with the local water pressure in general. Brighter light over the kitchen table would be nice but otherwise all good. We loved our stay.
