Family House, Weymouth

On first impressions, this is a lovely house and we were initially very pleased. However, the longer we stayed, the more issues became apparent. Unfortunately, the general standard of cleanliness and maintenance was disappointing. Many of the items and utensils in the kitchen are very well used, and some we felt were no longer fit to use. The bottoms of drawers were dirty, and the rugs are in poor condition and appear to be falling apart. We spent a considerable amount of time during the week sweeping up pieces coming off them. The house was also far too hot during our stay. The heating controls were locked at a set temperature of 21c, but room stats showed the actual temperature of 27c28c. we were unable to turn the heating off or adjust the temperature ourselves. A number of the window coverings are broken or damaged and generally the property would benefit from some maintenance and a thorough deep clean. We also didnt feel the property was particularly childfriendly. In particular, cupboards containing cleaning products did not have child locks, which was a concern for us when staying with young children. The cold water was not cold when running a bath the cold water came through warm. It is a shame because the house itself is lovely and has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the cleanliness, maintenance and safety issues really let it down.

We found several things that were not what we would expect in such a nice property Walls were very marked a quite dirty in some areas In the first floor bathroom there was black mould around the bath seal and on the tiles Windows were quite dirty In the upper floor bathroom the whole knob on the shower was missing and had to be turned on using the actual fitting The internet was atrocious we spent a lot of the holiday reconnecting or using our own hotspots to allow the children to watch their iPads As this was an issue we could not get tv to connect therefore unable to access range of channels

This was our second visit to Family House we were there two years ago so we noticed a few problems. The main thing is the mattresses and pillows could all do with a change as they are now showing their age. The water pressure is poor so only one person can have a shower at any time which can be a problem with ten people in the property including five children. We did all eat our evening meal together a few times which meant moving chairs from the back as there is only seating for 8 around the dining table. However on the plus side there are plenty of plates, mugs, cutlery etc. and lots of saucepans. We did have to put in a call regarding the back doors not being able to be closed and someone came round within a few hours and did a repair. We were lucky with the weather so the garden and slide etc were very well used as were the sit on toys in the garage by the three year old. Three clothes airers meant washing could be done and dried outside. The Lidl round the corner is a reasonable size and handy for top up shopping. It is a good walk to the beach and the sandiest and safest part is just passed the clock tower where the lifeguards are.

The property location is great for accessing local beaches facilities and the surrounding area and the size of the house for our party 5 Adults & 5 Children was more than sufficient. The outdoor area and large bifold doors were particularly welcome with the weather, we barely used the dinig room. Cleanliness For the price it was pretty average. The windows were really dirty, food prawn crackers? left in bedside drawers also. For the price paid you would expect better. The Kettle is also broken no filter and full of limescale which again is a bit of a grate when you are paying that amount. With it been a BH weekend there wasn't really time to resolve. Also there were many cobwebs and the large water marks downstairs and in one of the bedrooms certainly don't feature in the pictures from when there has been a leak. The property needs a decent redecoration. Overall though would I stay again yes absolutely as its a great location, plenty of parking with easy access and the kids loved it which is what the holiday is about. I can get over aesthetics personally, but I imagine for some people wanting real luxury this would be an issue.

We had a great time staying at this house, 7 adults and 4 children ages 3 to 7. It was very spacious to accommodate us all and well equipped with a nice play area for the children. The location is ideal for the lovely sandy beach, safe for children, and local attractions.

Thank you for a wonderful stay comfortable accommodation and lovely location. We were four families and had plenty of space. We needed to report a beeping smoke alarm which was out of reach and needed batteries replacing and the team came out to fix it immediately. Excellent service.

We had a wonderful stay the house was perfect for our large family gathering. It was spacious, warm, and in a fantastic location. That said, there are a few suggestions that could make the experience even better. The house was very warm, which was great in one sense, but we were unable to control the heating settings. Having access to adjust the temperature would be really helpful. The childrens climbing frame could also do with a little tightening to ensure its safe to use. In terms of the kitchen, while there were plenty of pans, they werent quite big enough for cooking for a large group, and the frying pans could do with replacing. Laundry was a bit of a challenge the property doesnt have a tumble dryer, and with just one airer and no washing line, drying clothes was difficult. Two additional airers would make a big difference. Clearer instructions regarding refuse and recycling collection would also be helpful. When we arrived, the bins were already full. Two of the recycling bins were collected the day before we left, but we had no idea when the food waste collection was. We put it out when we thought it might be due, but unfortunately, it was opened by seagulls and made a mess. The general waste bin was never emptied during our stay and remained full. Despite these minor issues, we really did enjoy our stay the house and location were both excellent, and wed definitely love to return.

We had a family of 11 stay here and we all absolutely loved it. The house was beautiful & very spacious. The kids absolutely loved waking up and just playing out in the garden & from the living room & conservatory you could easily keep an eye on them whilst having a nice cuppa and relaxing on either two of the very comfy sofa there. They also enjoyed feeding the fish there to. The kitchen was beautiful with the massive island & plenty of cupboard space, big fridge freezer so plenty of soon to put away food. Also the big cooker was very handly for a big family & the hot plate was a very good touch. There was also Plenty of toilets for us to with there being 4 toilets in total in the property. There was a few things that we think could be improved but this didn't effect the stay in such... There definitely needs to be bigger pots and pans as cooking for a family of 11 with just average size pans wasn't easily, we had meatballs one night & trying to cook that wasn't easy as the meatball sauce was full to the brim in a pot once adding the meatballs to it & we had to use three pots for the pasta and they were full to so the pasta took ages to cook. The kitchen could also do with an air fryer or 2 not essential but a very good addition There also needs to be more than one clothes airer to as for a family of 11 that's not enough. Also the water on the top floor doesn't come out very cold at all, we had to put ice in a bath to cool it down as it was way to hot even with the cold tap left running on its own to. I would also say in the top floor bedroom a mirror in the room would be handly as you either have to use the small one in the bathroom or to check on an outfit for down the one of the rooms down stairs. But overall, we all loved our stay here & had an amazing time We will definitely be rebooking again but next time for 2 weeks instead of 1

Family House was a very enjoyable stay for 11 of us. Garden was great for the kids & plenty of space indoors for all. Had a great week seeing sights of Dorset & spending time together as a family. Recommend both house & area.

A great property for a family gathering. Plenty of space for entertaining. Close to local supermarkets and a few minutes drive from lovely beaches, restaurants and entertainment. Great for young children. We had a 20 month old, 3 yr old and 9 yr old and they all loved the play area in the garden. Would definitely book again.

Great home for my whole family, we all enjoyed the stay. Everyone enjoyed it. Only a few things, no decaf options of tea and coffee, and the WiFi would drop out on the top floor when everyone else woke up and joined the WiFi.

Weve just had a lovely week in the Family House, the house is beautiful and provided us with everything we needed for a large family we had more than enough room to enjoy the property either together as a large family or separately when we needed that bit of space. We picked up on a couple of things but in no way did this effect our stay its just more to make you aware, there are no bins in any of the bedroomsbathrooms, there was one small bin in the main bathroom but that is the only one so we had to use carrier bags in the other bathrooms and bedrooms. The large bedroom on the top floor doesnt have any mirror so when getting ready I was having to use the mirror downstairs next to the kitchen which wasnt ideal. The house would benefit from having some plastic platescups our youngest child is two and I was having to give her juice in a glass. For the most part the house is clean, the bedrooms and bathrooms were all clean but the outside could do with a wipe down, the window and doorframes were covered in cobwebs and definitely hadnt been cleaned in a while. Overall we really enjoyed our week away and the property is a lovely property to stay in.

Overall cleanliness could be better ie under sofas , cupboards etc Downstairs loo needs a Towel Ring On day of arrival entering the property we found it unbearably hot assume the heating had been put on, didnt help being so warm outside which was lovely for this time of year So overall we had a great time, lovely weather, house was amazing great for large family gatherings and in a good spot close to most amenities.

This property is ideal for a big family and has a lovely garden for the children to play in. They especially enjoyed feeding the fish once a day. The living room, sun room and kitchen are large and lovely to use. The bathrooms are done to a very high standard. The property is a lovely property to stay but we experienced a few problems. We found the washing machine needs investigation as it leaves marks on clothes that you wash. We could not get the dishwasher to work as it had an error code. We could not find any instructions to identify what this code was, therefore we washed all our pots by hand. The instruction manual needs full instructions for all the appliances. The top floor bedroom was the master bedroom. There was nowhere to dry and style your hair. There are plenty of plugs but could not sit under the eaves banging my head. No mirror at all except in the bathroom. I had to sit in another bedroom with a very little mirror and dressing table. I feel there is room to improve the top floor bedroom with hair styling facilities. The slide needs replacing as it has a crack around the fixings. Overall we had a good time but these few problems were inconvenient.

Our extended family have used Sykes cottageshouses for many years now and enjoyed the high standard of quality homescottages and customer service throughout. Particularly when we stayed at Baytree Lodge in Osmington which went above and beyond our expectations. However, we were somewhat disappointed with this particular house. On the whole the house itself was stunning. However, Just from personal preference the house would have been enjoyed more if there had been ensuite bathrooms, if it had a dryer as well as a washing machine a larger table in the conservatory area as this was a preferred eating place to the lounge. From an overall perspective we were very disappointed with the fact we arrived on the Friday only to find all the outside wheelie bins full and overflowing. We later discovered the bin collection was not until Tuesday and even on that day, only one bin was emptied. This meant we had nowhere to put the rubbish and had to put it all in bags in the garage until we left, only for the next family to arrive and find the exact same issues we did. Although the WiFi was not working when we arrived this issue was dealt with quickly within 24 hours. Our expectations of cleanliness are very high and usually met however, the overall cleanliness of this house was poor as most rooms appeared dusty and the kitchen fridge, microwave and oven were without exaggeration filthy. My father and brother spent 2 hours cleaning down all of these areas before we could use them. Although the gentleman whom my sister in law complained to, on the phone did offer to send someone round to clean the house, it had already been done by then. We would still highly recommend the group and hence the high score of 9, as we still had an enjoyable holiday, and we have spent many years enjoying the quality homes that you normally provide. However, We just would not expect the poor level of cleanliness from this property and thus disappointed. This is the reason we only gave a 3 for this property.

Lovely holiday, lovely house in a great location with good facilities, had everything we need. Some furniture needs to be replacedupdated some tables and chairs disappointed with the cleanliness of the property, high chair and travel cot absolutely filthy and also the downstairs mattress protector covered in stains.

My extended family of three generations just enjoyed a great week at the Family House . There was plenty of room for everyone the beds were comfortable and facilities met all our needs . The grandchildren loved the garden and feeding the fish. There was plenty of parking and the road was quiet. We would definitely think about booking again as we love Weymouth for a family holiday . Dream Cottages were quick to deal with our inquiry about the cot.

We had a lovely stay in this very spacious house. It felt like a home. We were staying with our two daughters, husbands, 2 three yr olds and a 11month baby and it met all our needs. The little boys loved feeding the fish daily. They happily played with the toys from the garage and playhouse in the garden. We would recommend this beautiful modern house to large family groups similar to ours. It was very convenient for beach, walks and shops. We also visited Monkey World and walked to the Sealife Centre, both were good value for money and the little boys loved the animals. We highly recommend this holiday let..

Really well presented house. Plenty of off road parking we had 3 cars easily on the drive and loads on on road parking.

A perfect base with plenty of space for our three families. The sofas were really comfortable and the house was lovely and warm. We were able to fit our 3 cars easily in the drive. A 15 minute stroll to the seafront from the house turning right from coming out the front door. Great location for amenities too.

Beautiful house tastefully decorated to a high standard with lots of room for the 11 of us. Garden lovely even in November we were outside. It said parking for 2 cars but we got 4 cars on

This is a very nice property and i would definately stay there again.

Great house, very comfortable, lovely enclosed garden. Bedding and towels lovely. All rooms a good size. Conservatory lovely and sunny and lounge dining room comfortable. Good location a short drive or a 30m walk to the beach. Park and aquarium etc at the end of the road. The only negatives are bedroom on the ground floor but no shower room so not suitable for those who cant climb the stairs the shower on the top floor ran cold despite the bath having hot water The kitchen didn't have enough items for a large party, eg no large saucepans, very few mugs, no large bowls for salad bowl etc appeared to be set up for use by 4 people.
