Hove To Reviews

Barnaby
We had a lovely week at Hove To, and Lyme Bay Holidays were brilliant at sorting out the issues we had. I have a very different view of Sykes Cottages. I had an awful time trying to get hold of you prior to the stay, and the request I had made zip link bed had not been completed. Yes a quick dropin to Lyme Bay Holidays and it was resolved in ten minutes. In your Tell us about how we helped you survey after contacting you, I did not hold back and was scathing at the poor service from Sykes. Yet, you have not attempted at any time to get in touch with me to find out more about what happened, in order that you can improve your survey, nor to offer an apology. Let me be very clear the service from Sykes was terrible, from your impenetrable automatic phone system, to your WhatsApp chat that ignores you for 24 hours in the hope that you will resolve the issue yourself so that Sykes won't have to do anything. Lyme Bay Holidays team was brilliant. The cottage was brilliant. Sykes is awful.
Wonderfully comfortable, clean cottage, lots of lovely additions thank you. Just a couple of recommendations, the sitting room sofa gets backed on to the radiator so it absorbs most of the heat, something behind the back legs would prevent this. The cooker hob light is very dull and no help to see whats cooking. We really loved our stay, thank you.
From the minute we walked through the door we felt at home. The house was spotless, comfortable with everything you need. The views are amazing and the walk to the beach 7 minutes lovely. I would definitely recommend this property. We loved it so much we have booked for next Christmas. Thank you for having us.

This was our third stay at this property! Have already booked it for next year. It's perfect
Jackie
Property was perfect for us and well located with only a short walk to the centre of town for the shops, pubs, beach, etc. We were with 6 persons which was fine. For 8 as advertised, more plates, cutlery and glasses would be required.

Hove To was a great choice for a week in Lyme Regis once we found the parking space! The directions are not clear and the small sign is so worn and faded its almost invisible. Luckily we met a friendly neighbour who directed us. Its a spacious house with a well equipped kitchen and living room. The beds were comfortable and the freestanding rain shower was fine. The house was very clean and the welcome pack was a nice touch. The situation is excellent as its in a quiet residential area yet only a few minutes walk to the main town and the beaches. We needed to raise the temperature part of the time and this was easy using the Nest thermostat. We understand air pump heating is slow to respond but it did not take long in practice. So our verdict? We really enjoyed staying in Hove To and, although in some ways it is a bit dated, it was very comfortable. We have some suggestions which we hope the owners will find helpful The parking directions why not add the aerial view, which is inside the house, to the directions? The sign by the parking space needs an urgent upgrade. The fridge was adequate but the freezer compartment is tiny. A bag of frozen peas and a tub of ice cream and it was full. Time to upgrade to a modern fridgefreezer. The steps up to the front door have sharp edges. A handrail would make them safer. The information file is tired and needs a rewrite and freshen up.

Great hose in great locatation

Great property for a few friends staying together. We were a group of 4 adults 3 kids. Excellent walking distance to town. Enough space, enough bathrooms, big beds, well furnished. I would have liked more showersbetter shower set up over the bathtubs. Also, earlier info about EV charging would have been helpful. The public EV charging in Lyme Regis was a bit disappointing. Thanks for a great stay!
We had a fabulous family holiday in this lovely house in Lyme and I would highly recommend. Its spacious and comfortable and near to the beach and town so we could walk everywhere. We also had fantastic weather which made it perfect. Thank you
We found the cottage as described but there were a series of issues which made our stay less than perfect. 1.We couldn't turn on the oven. A maintenence man Andy came and found the well hidden fuse trip box. 2. The knows on the cooker we're broken so when it was on it was at the wrong temperature, so burnt food. Andy came back and took 2 of the 3 knobs. 3. The lock on the downstairs loo didn't work resulting in some multi generational embarrassment. We told Andy. 4. The washing machine door jammed which we opened using string not damaged to get our clothes out. 5. The smoke alarm went off on our last night. It was unreachable even when my 6 foot son stood on a table. Mia from the local office came at 1am. Alarm smashed off and removed. We asked Mia if we could have a later leave time which she did arrange but told us about it at 10.20ish am, after we had all left at 10am. 7. It's really cold when the wind blows, which is why you have fan heaters I imagine, but you could use extra blankets. 8. Please put some hooks on back of bedroom doors, and provide more than 1 tea towel fir a week. It's a good cottage for our annual Lyme holiday of 4 generations, but all the issues were not good. Lyme Bay responded well.
A lovely house situated in a very accessible location for main Lyme Regis. Well equipped and ideal for a large family. Christmas tree and decorations as well as a lovely welcome pack were much appreciated by the family. We loved our stay in Hove To and hope to book again.

This is our second stay at the house. It has everything we need. The owners provide a very generous welcome pack on arrival. The best we have come across! The beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory, it is very cosy.
Annabella
Amazing stay at Hove To, it was a gorgeous holiday home with an amazing view and extremely comfortable furnishings. We all had a fabulous time!
Samantha
Fabulous house in Lyme. A couple of minutes walk to the main town and although on a main road there wasnt any noticeable traffic noise, just noisy seagulls! The house was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm all day long, just what we needed for our wet Feb holiday. Plenty of hot water for six adults too. Parking was the only drawback. You can only park one car around the corner, away from the house. If you have more cars we had three in total, they have to be parked in the long stay car park at the top of a hill at about 10 a day. I noticed other holiday cottage lets offer a parking permit a house for six is likely to have more than one car!
We found this lovely property was wonderfully located near both the town centre and also with easy access to the beach. Having easy access to park our EV and charge it was also a great bonus, especially given the observation that Parking in Lyme Regus can be tricky at the best of times. We also, for those brave enough and willing, recommend the 6.5 mile undercliff walk to Seaton. The starting point is the costal path between bowling club and boat building car park ... follow it up and into the closest that the UK has to a rainforest.
The drain in the stand alone shower on the 1st floor is blocked. A switch on a light in the 2nd bedroom on the 1st floor is broken. Seal underneath Shower panel is degrading. The WiFi is shocking .... 0.5Mbps at times ... and needs addressing. On a personal note .... the gifts were appreciated, thanks, but it would have been a nice touch to leave milk and sugar
Excellent property which we thoroughly enjoyed. All positive except dishwasher wasnt good, small leak from shower at the end of the week and a spare set of keys would be good
No problems. Well equipped.. we eat out so only had serials in morning, imagine cooking equip. Would be fine.
The house was perfect. It was in a good position for the sea, extremely well equipped, very comfortable and clean and my 'nana in the attic' room with a balcony was a wonderful escape space.
We had a great time staying at Hove To. It was lovely to have lots of space to relax in. The house had great facilities and a lovely spacious kitchen. The kitchen has everything you needed and more. It was a great location for the beach and town to be able to pop back in the daytime. There was lovely playground almost opposite for the kids to burn off any excess energy in the evening. The garden was very well maintained. We would be book again to stay in the future.
The house was lovely & very ell equipped. Everywhere was very clean & the living areas were roomy. The twin bedded room was small & the beds were very narrow ideal for children but not really suitable if two adults were sharing. With only one parking space it was rather inconvenient to have to go to the other car every morning to put a parking ticket on & 10 a day was an added expense. Maybe a permit could be issued by the owners. Overall though a very pleasant stay.
The property was perfect for our needs. Would recommend this property. Lovely welcome hamper.
Lovely cottage very comfortable & warm. Beds particularly comfy. Great location. Only down was that there were no Xmas decorations very small point but weve stayed in a few cottages at new year & having the Xmas stuff makes it feel special.
Cottage was superb! Would definitely stay again and 100 would recommend! Easy process booking.
Philip
Property was great overall. There was a small intermittent leak when the shower was used which dripped through a light socket in the kitchen but it did not do this all the time. Also just one space for a property that sleeps 8 is disappointing as we paid a fortune in parking for the second car.
We had a very enjoyable stay. Facilities are very good, washing machine tumble dryer etc. Location good. Could do with more towels for a weeks stay. When we arrived the key was bent. The response to fix it was very quick
Adrian
Excellent stay at Hove To. Really convenient for the beach and the town. Lovely property. Definitely recommend.
Our stay at Hove To was pleasant and comfortable and accessing the property couldnt have been easier. The whole family slept well each night. The property was equipped with a good range of kitchen facilities and there is enough space to feel like youre not on top of each other.
The key safe for the front door key was really difficult to open not what you need after a 4 hour drive! Please repair or replace it. The beds werent zipped together as requested and there was no info for the code for the car charger for which we had paid. Both these issues were sorted after some phone calls. The parking was not clear from the instructions and the sign was not clear make it larger and more prominent. It was quite a tight squeeze when the other property put 3 cars into the remaining space!
