Malabar House Reviews

Our 3rd year at Malabar House, absolutely beautiful house, wonderfully clean and excellent facilities. We always have a lovely holiday here, family of 8 with 3 boys. Would appreciate an extra key for front door
Malabar House is very special and provided us with the perfect place for us to celebrate a family Christmas. There we 8 of us ranging from 19 to 90 and having the two reception rooms worked really well. In fact at one point we had two films running at the same time! The kitchen is well equipped and it was great to be able to have our breakfasts and lunches in there leaving dinners to be enjoyed in the more formal separate dining room. All bedrooms are very spacious, 3 with ensuite shower rooms and all with incredibly comfy beds. There is an outdoor 'washroom' too which was just as elegant as the rest of the property and made for a great place to put all our overflow stuff, boxes, bags and recycling. The house itself is about a 3 minute walk to the harbour via a couple of routes and not much further to the beach and High Street with its gorgeous shops and cafes. In the other direction and another 3 minute walk is The Town Mill in a picturesque setting by the river and surrounded by cafes and pubs. The hosts were perfect and did so much to ensure that our stay was as comfortable and hassle free as possible and we were so grateful to them for that. All in all, the elegance, spaciousness and comfort of Malabar House together with its central location meant that this was definitely one of our best Christmas gatherings.

Beautiful old house. All the rooms are very well maintained and very clean. Kitchen well equipped. Great location. This is our second visit to Malabar House and it didn't disappoint. We stayed when the weather was very cold and we would have liked to have been able to adjust the heating a bit more. Welcome pack was a nice touch to receive on arrival as well.
Thank you Malabar House for embracing us in your elegance, space and comfort, enabling us to have a special family celebration & holiday in this wonderful place.
Thank you for such a lovely, prettily situated house. Everything was clean and nicely decorated. The beds were spacious and comfortable. The house was very conveniently near the sea and a range of lovely restaurants. We will definitely come back again!

Thank you for this delightful house of splendid proportions exquisitely furnished and fitted out. We have come to the seaside wild for Lyme in the footsteps of Austen & her heroine Anne Elliot. We have walked Golden Cap and swum the bay. And we have especially enjoyed the Regency rabbits and their cabbage leaves!

All excellent except the quilts were winter ones and too hot. Summer quilts should have been available.
An absolutely wonderful stay at Malabar House, thank you so much! Comfy beds, lots of room and everyone had a private bathroom. We shall be back.

This is our 2nd time here because we love the house so much. We are a family with 3 small boys who relish in the size of the house. The house is beautifully furnished. Lovely comfortable beds. Great kitchen with large american style fridge freezer with ice making facility, the boys love thIs as well. Lovely complimentary bag of goodies, local apple juice, delicious, local tea bags, ground coffee, biscuits and wine. There was milk in the frIdge. It's also few minutes walk to seafront and shops. We definitly want to stay again.
A wonderful home, a wonderful story! Beautifully furnished spacious and comfortable a home away from home. The location couldnt have been better, a great place to celebrate my 70th Birthday with the family. Thank you for the welcome pack. We could have stayed another week. Fabulous.
This was a fantastic property, spacious, very clean, with great amenities, really comfy beds and great showers. The only negative was that we went during a very cold snap during the winter, and although we are used to older houses, this was a little chillier than we were used to, particularly in the mornings, and we were unable to change the heating timings. Very much recommended.

We loved everything about Malabar House, particularly the location and all the lovely old rooms all renovated to a very high standard. Just a shame that we couldn't use the fireplaces but understand the risks involved. Found parking permit and car park location without any problem and managed to drop off and pick up outside the house without too much trouble. The welcome pack was a nice touch as well.
We stayed in Malabar House for the Christmas week. We had a fantastic time and the house was absolutely great. Amazing to stay somewhere with so much history. The house has been renovated to a high standard so was very comfortable and well equipped. Great location too.

Malabar House was a delightful home with excellent facilities and location. The house was immaculate and so comfortable with everything you needed to make it a great place to relax and enjoy. Comfy beds, super American style fridge freezer and range with plenty of space for our party of 6 people and our small cockerpoo. Would highly recommend this house for Lyme Regis.
What a lovely house in a great location, we loved the fact we could be on the beach or into town within a few short steps. Dont be worried bout the road outside as you can be off the main road in less than a minute into quiet streets or pedestrianised areas. The rear courtyard was a haven during a hot day when we needed to retreat from the beach. The layout of the Kitchen, Living Room and Courtyard makes a lovely area for outdoor dining and socialising. The support from the Lyme Bay team when we locked ourselves out by accident during a Tesco delivery was prompt efficient and kind. The provided car space is a few minutes walk away and it is easy to park in a nearby street for a few minutes to unload before you move the car to the car park. Would throughly recommend. Regards David
Thank you for our wonderful stay. House was gorgeous and great welcome pack.

Lovely property. So much space! Photos dont do it justice!
The house was absolutely perfect we stayed here for my Dads birthday as a group of 5 adults and 2 children and it suited everyone. The house has everything you need, lots of space and a lovely courtyard garden which we were lucky enough to enjoy sunshine in everyday! The welcome pack was a really lovely touch and the team were super helpful with any questions we had before we went and during our stay. The location of the house is brilliant, its a few minutes from the sea front with everything on your door stop. We had a fantastic holiday here and will definitely look to come again!
What an absolutely gorgeous house, so well done and thought out. Everything we needed & more! Such a lovely feeling and atmosphere. Thank you for the welcome pack, it was greatly appreciated & such a thoughtful touch. We had an amazing weeks holiday, love Lyme Regis & so lucky to have sunny days on the beach. Will definitely recommend & hope to return in the future.
Beautiful house, spacious and exceptionally clean. Wonderful location. Beds very comfortable. Lovely outside space at the back with table and chairs. The whole family loved staying at Malabar House. We were 5 adults and 3 children. We would love to stay again

A lovely historical property, spacious and beautifully appointed, with a lot of thought having gone into it. It had absolutely everything we needed for our stay and was very comfortable. A welcome pack awaited us filled with local products. The location was perfect with the only drawback being the distance from car parking and the inability to unload directly outside. A special mention to Mark from Lyme Bay Holidays for his considerable help.
We have had a wonderful stay in this lovely home. From beginning to end there has been nothing we've needed that isn't provided. The welcome pack was exactly that. Very welcome. The rooms are gorgeous and so comfortable. The location is perfect, just a shame we couldn't have stayed longer!
