Stone House, Charmouth

Perfect venue for three generations together beautiful house, beautifully furnished. We wished the description had included all the wonderful toys we found to amuse the little ones would have saved us bringing toys along! otherwise, it was just a a thoroughgoing delight especially the study.

A good holiday was had by everyone. Children enjoyed the toys in the basement. Some issues with a lack of hooks to hang towels and dressing gowns in the shower room. A lock on the downstairs toilet would be really good. We parked two smallish cars on the premises and one in the road no problem. Big issue was a power failure on the second Saturday night. I think a RCD had tripped with no visible show of a trip. Cycling the left hand RCD restored power. We had several subsequent power failures at very roughly 10 min intervals. We restored power until we gave up and went to bed with the power off. Assuming the food in the fridge and freezer would thaw. I woke at about 1am went down and cycled the RCD, power was restored and we had no subsequent problems. A complete mystery! An electrician came Monday and found no obvious problems Everyone enjoyed the holiday.

A perfect holiday home for mixed ages. The provision on the upper young family floor included a stair gate was perfect along with childrens books and dressing up items. Beds are very comfy and lovely bed linen. The garden is beautifully kept and safe for 2 and 5 years provided an eye is kept out on the stone steps up to dining area. The bus system is very useful just metres down the street going to Lyme Regis and others. The property is Characterful with an upper case C and this should be taken into account when leaving a review. Stone House has not been refurbished in an ultra modern way much to its benefit. It is clean and cosy. The owner who was there on our arrival was very friendly and helpful. Things to take into account are When the details say room for 2 small cars for parking behind the house it means this. One of our party scraped a wheel surround trying to get round the very tight corner in his Vauxhall Mocha. My advice is to park on the road outside then assess the situation first. The half door down into the basement which houses a bonus extra fridge and freezer opens inwards onto steep stone steps which could be a danger if it isnt locked. When contacting Lyme Bay Holidays who manage the bookings no phone number is supplied and our emails regarding provision of certain items were not responded to at all. So saying we will be booking this amazing property in this very special place again next year if its still available.

A lovely spacious, comfortable,warm house with plenty of room for three generations of our family at Christmas. Plenty of storage space, comfortable sofas and beds and everything we needed for quite a lot of cooking. Particularly liked the very large teacups and saucers. The children loved the basement play area and also the top floor bedrooms. The house exceeded our expectations. Thank you.

Found it frustrating that agency could not be contacted by phone and that queries were answered by generic texts. Overall the house and garden and location were great very comfortable, spacious and thoughtful touches like bed guard and toddlers steps and seats for the toilets. We definitely would like to stay again. Some issues need addressing faulty oven door light switch in basement gave shocks cushions for outdoor seating were left in the rain window in single bedroom needed safety locks like other bedroom windows. Recycling facility would have been good.

We had a lovely week at Stone House. It is a lovely period property with plenty of space, very well equipped kitchen, lovely comfortable beds and a stunning garden. The dressing up box and books were a lovely homely touch too. The location is brilliant for exploring and the bus to Lyme very easy. We loved the fish and chips, the local bakery and of course the beach even though the weather wasnt that kind! As others have said, the driveway access are a bit challenging but we managed and could park on the road if you didnt want to tackle it. We felt the sofas could do with a replacement wash of the covers and a small welcome pack wouldve been lovely as we have had at other properties. The hot water was also off when we arrived not a big problem to us but wouldve been nice to arrive after a long journey and have a shower. A really lovely house for our multi generational family thank you!

We very much enjoyed staying at Stone House. it is perfectly located for the surrounding countryside without being too touristy. The rooms were beautifully thought out, with a very attractive garden.

We had a very nice stay at the Stone House. It is very spacious with a lovely garden and lots of nice extras. Excellent for an extended family stay but probably more relaxing if the children staying are at least 3 or 4

We loved staying here! Was perfect for a big family birthday weekend! With 8 people staying, it was a lovely big space and felt so homely! The only concern was the parking, as getting down the road next to the house was very close and resulted in minor damage to the car.
