George's House Reviews

Enjoyed another lovely week at George's House. Again, spotlessly clean and the Christmas tree had been put up for us, it was really nice. The house is very spacious, has absolutely everything you need and the beds very comfortable. Everything literally on you door step, the harbour, restaurants, shops etc, its perfect, hope to book again soon
Great house to stay for the holiday.
Had a great week at Georges House. Had everything you could possibly want, space, comfort, lovely bedding, spotlessly clean and well situated for everything. Hope to return next year!!
We arrived to a lovely cleaned house, it was absolutely spotless, thank you to the housekeeper, she did a great job. The house is so nice, very comfortable and has absolutely everything you need. Its a few minutes to the harbour, everything is on the doorstep. We had a great week and are looking forward to going back for a week in December, once again, we'll done Dream Cottages, this is our fourth time booking with you.

We had a problem with the washing machine but the owner sorted it out and refunded us 100. Apart from this we had a really lovely holiday and would recommend Georges House.
This apartment is wonderfully located in Brewers Quay close to the harbour, town centre, beach, Nothe Fort and the Nothe Gardens. Good convenient parking for one car. The apartment is spacious and well equipped. Its over two floors so you must be able to adequately handle stairs. Very easy to gain access at start and easy to finish up and leave at the end. The host was very accessible and helpful when needed. We very much enjoyed a relaxing stay in this apartment.
It's an excellent property, the only things I want to comment on are, firstly, the super king bedroom was made as a twin room, which I didn't request, but we accept this was an oversight, and the door curtain was torn, which wasn't an issue, but didn't look right in such a lovely holiday property. Overall, we had a fantastic time in Weymouth, and staying here added to the experience.
It would have been nice to have had the umbrella replaced as promised, so that we could sit at the top of the stairs and enjoy the sun. That being said, there were so many positives that added up to a memorable week had by all not least of which was the beautiful weather! The accommodation was perfect for everyone to enjoy their own space being two aged ps and four grown up children. Plus an aged and rather large golden retriever who was happy to spend the days resting indoors in the cool. The kitchen was wellequipped sharp knives were particularly welcome and spacious enough to be able to create comfortably. A peacefulquiet area, despite being a step away from pubs, cafes, shops and harbour. We particularly enjoyed the retro games pub, Lovely walk to and along Chesil beach. We were able to leave the car as the bus service was regular and wellpriced. The occasion was my husbands 70th birthday and we were pleased to have chosen such an excellent venue.
Property is ideal for us, as it accommodates us all, is dogfriendly, and is handy for the Old Harbour, Newton's Cove, Nothe Gardens, Nothe Fort, and, importantly, the Londis shop. There was sufficient comfortable seating for six of us, and the Netflix subscription was a thoughtful extra. We were at George's House for two weeks, and it would have been helpful if one or two basic cleaning products were provided for cleaning the loo and bathroom.

We absolutely loved George Cottage we loved the layout of downstairs the kitchen was well played out and all equipment was of good quality and it had 2 frying pans which was great. The upstairs showers are great and again all of good standard. Location Brilliant.. Just overall a lovely cottage which we would be coming back to! And the owner put up a brilliant Christmas Tree for us which made it even more homely
It needs another car park space by the property as only space for one car. Needs a parasol for outside while ave food. Needs pizza cutter but other than that there is plenty of everything in the property
Geraldine
First class property, Would love to come back next year but already booked up.

George House is a very pleasant property, very well placed for exploring Weymouth by foot. The house is well maintained, clean and very comfortable. I would definately recommend.
Couldnt get in to property until 5 as cleaner was still there which was a a ... Couldnt get in to property until 5 as cleaner was still there which was a a bit nuisance as we had 2 young children in the car and a car full of food shopping it was a hot day also only one car parking space for a 4 bedroom property was a problem was told to move one car while we were waiting for cleaner to finish only wanted to unpack car and then move on
Pauline
Well maintained, comfy as always, like the new sofas.
We had a brilliant week in a wonderful place. George's House is brilliantly placed for exploring Weymouth. It's within easy walking distance of the town, with loads of places to eat, interesting shops, and all the amusements at the beach. We also loved the shingle beach we found going out the back of Kellaway Court. The house itself was fantastic, with absolutely everything we needed. And we loved the new sofas!!!
Setties in living room needs cleaning, also cushings need cleaning. better still change both for new.
Graham
Very comfortable and very clean. Would advise you to look at the opening of the door lock from the inside. Very difficult to turn the key at times.
Really lovely place,

Really lovely place,
Very nice accommodation, roomy and comfortable and in a good location
Stunning property, perfect location, lots of facilities and little extras which were an added bonus, just small note wouldve liked spare light bulbs provided as one bedroom had a blown bulb and had to remove one from downstairs light to replace it and wooden hand rail really needs a very good clean. Apart from that it is very clean with good quality beddingtowelsetc. Shame only x1 parking space and as previous people have said it is a very noisy property everywhere wooden floors that creak and barn style latch doors so if like us, you need to use toilet in the night, it wakes the whole house up think it would be extremely noisy if you have young children staying can clearly hear people in next room talking and also if downstairs sitting in lounge so just be aware but upon saying this we would all definitely recommend this beautiful property creaks and all and its perfect gated location, literally a minutes walk from the harbour its the best place we have stayed in Weymouth with loads of facilities including a washerdryer which was very useful and such a great location we will definitely be returning!
Faultless especially with parking in gated area. My daughter in law didn't want to leave. Will definitely be back
Had a wonderful stay in George's House. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was perfect and to top it all we had brilliant weather. We would definitely stay here again.

Some of the decking at the front is lifted which is a trip hazard and also a couple of the outdoor folding chairs are about to break so need looking at. Other than that another great holiday at Georges house. Great cottage in a super location.
Joanne
Lovely place to stay, and looking forward to booking for next year
The property had been refurbished and redecorated to a seemingly very high standard, but unfortunately within a couple of days we noticed water appearing in one corner of the kitchen. We eventually deduced that the leak was in some way connected with the usage of the ensuite situated above. Then, to our disgust, we discovered that the source of the leak was the toilet waste pipe, to which all other ensuite waste pipes shower, wash basin were connected. By this time food stored in the kitchen cabinets and on the worktops below had been contaminated and was thrown away. When we informed Dream Cottages about this, we decided that the best option was for us to cease using the leaky ensuite altogether, as any attempt at a full repair would have involved removal of the builtin kitchen cabinets in order to gain access to the toilet waste pipe situated behind them. The result of this was that we only had one bathroom for seven people, which was very inconvenient, to say the least. As if this wasn't enough, when it rained during our second week, we discovered that the newly glazed kitchen window was leaking badly in several places, so much, in fact, that we needed to position several pans and even sandcastle buckets to catch the drips. We informed Dream Cottages about this, and a tradesman arrived next day to carry out a repair this was not completely effective, but did reduce the number of drips from six down to one. So, all in all, mixed feelings about the property no doubt the owner has spent a fortune on the refurbishment, but has clearly been let down by the quality of work carried out. I should point out that we have stayed at George's House before, and enjoyed it immensely. It is a very comfortable house in a great position for accessing the delightful Old Harbour and also Nothe Gardens and Newton's Cove. No doubt when the problems mentioned have been addressed it will once again be a superb holiday accommodation. I would hope that we will be offered some compensation for the inconveniences detailed above, and for the fact that facilities for which we had paid handsomely were not available for much of the holiday.
Jackie
Lovely property. Cozy, warm and comfortable. Spotlessly clean and very convenient location Nice and new. Very comfy beds and linens. Great bathrooms and entry way. Lovely new utensils, etc. Could do with a little more wardrobe space. Steps up to property are not for the elderly and security gates are great but a pain to keep opening and closing in wind and gales, off season. We enjoyed our stay and certainly served us well and would recommend. Lovely and quiet there off season. Slept really well.
Stayed numerous times at Georges House which speaks for itself. Another enjoyable stay. Couple of minor issues, both reported and dealt with by Dream Cottages promptly as we have found they always do.
We had a special time with our grandchildren during half term. The house was big enough for the family to be together and the location superb. We would recommend this venue and would be happy to book it again another year.
Carole
Wonderful property in a fantastic location. Only negative one parking bay but our group arrived in three cars.
This property was clean and well equipped, it has all you need to make your stay comfortable, hair dryer, iron etc The beds are comfortable and bedding clean. I would stay at the property again but only as a family. I wouldnt recommend for larger parties as you can hear every single noise mainly due to the flooring being floor boards.
Bernard
Superb location. Excellent property very comfortable. Will definitely book again. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Stephen
Fantastic house for facilities, location and comfort. Stayed here many times and will be returning.
We were very happy with our experience. The only reservation I have relates to parking. George's House is large enough to accommodate up to 8 people presumably at least two carloads but has only one parking space. The cottage adjacent has three. I don't know what the protocol for the allotment of spaces is, but another space for this property would save a great deal of inconvenience.
Georgina
We had a great stay on the whole and really enjoyed the property. One thing though, the super king size bedtwin room was not great as we couldn't get the beds to join together so I wouldn't describe it as a super king size, it's two beds really and should be described as a twin room only. Great location and we really enjoyed our stay.
We realise things change during Covid but the house wasnt really clean when we arrived and we seem to be being asked to do more and more at the end of the stay and we can't get in before 1700 on the first day. Makes me wonder what your cleaners actuallly do do nowadays!
The positives This is a lovely holiday let perfect location close to the harbour and right next door to Brewers quay and its restaurants. It is a really good sized property with great toiletshower facilities The stairs are quite difficult if you have mobility issues being wooden and quite steep Great gated property with parking which was a godsend. My negatives It could be cleaner There is so much dust everywhere! and if you happen to move any furniture for whatever reason its not good. You are unable to check in until 5 because of the supposed deep clean that has to be carried out these days so you lose a day and then find that a deep clean has not been carried out. The dreams cottages office is right next door to the property and they were fantastic when we complained about the mattress in the master bedroom it sunk in the middle this was changed for us 1010 for customer service
The location was perfect. The accommodation couldn't have been any better. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Lovely place, well furnished with great facilities, comfy beds and excellent location. Only thing that let it down was cleanliness, it had a good surface clean but other areas were thick with dust. Only other thing to mention is the gulls, when it's hot, having windows open is a must but be prepared for a 5am wake up call from them shrieking, obviously not the fault of the cottage though. Had a great week and would recommend the place
